The Ministry of Foreign Affairs announces that on 29 October 1992 the Agreement between the Government of the Czech Republic and the Government of the Slovak Republic on the mutual recognition of the equivalence of documents on education and documents on scientific degrees and titles issued in the Czech Republic and the Slovak Republic was signed in Prague.
The Agreement entered into force on 1 January 1993 pursuant to Article 8 thereof.
The Czech version of the Agreement is hereby published at the same time.
AGREEMENT
between the Government of the Czech Republic and the Government of the Slovak Republic on mutual recognition of the equivalence of documents on education and documents on scientific degrees and titles issued in the Czech Republic and in the Slovak Republic
The Government of the Czech Republic and the Government of the Slovak Republic (hereinafter referred to as the "Contracting Parties'),
seeking to develop mutual cooperation in the field of education and science
agree as follows:
The certificate and the evidence of completion at primary school or secondary school in the school network published in the Czech Republic and the Slovak Republic are recognised as equivalent.
The diplomas and testimonies awarded after the completion of the content of a comprehensive part of higher education, higher education or postgraduate studies in the Czech Republic and the Slovak Republic are recognised as equivalent.
Academic degrees, state titles and other degrees of university graduates awarded under previous regulations remain unaffected and recognised as equivalent.
Evidence of the award of the scientific rank of "candidate of sciences" (in abbreviation "CSc.") and "doctor of sciences" (in abbreviation "DrSc.") issued in the Czech Republic and in the Slovak Republic is recognised as equivalent.
Evidence of the award of the title "Docent," issued in the Czech Republic and in the Slovak Republic, is recognised as equivalent.
Evidence of the title "Professor" issued in the Czech Republic and the Slovak Republic is recognised as equivalent.
The Contracting Parties shall inform each other of any changes to their education systems and shall exchange specimens of the documents referred to in Articles 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 of this Agreement. In the event of amendments to generally binding legislation, the Contracting Parties shall enter into negotiations on any adjustments to this Agreement.
The Parties shall develop mutual cooperation under this Agreement in accordance with their respective legal rules.
This Agreement shall enter into force on 1 January 1993.
This Agreement shall be concluded for an indefinite period. Each Contracting Party may denounce it in writing. In such a case, this Agreement shall cease to apply one year after the date of notification of this notice.
This Agreement is drawn up in two copies, each in the Czech and Slovak languages, the two texts being equally authentic.
