COMMUNICATION
Ministry of Foreign Affairs
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs states that on 22 April 1994 an Agreement was signed in Santiago de Chile between the Government of the Czech Republic and the Government of the Republic of Chile on cooperation in culture, education, science and other fields.
The Agreement entered into force on 3 April 1995 on the basis of Article 6 thereof.
The Czech version of the Agreement is hereby published at the same time.
AGREEMENT
between the Government of the Czech Republic and the Government of the Republic of Chile on cooperation in culture, education, science and other areas
the Government of the Czech Republic and the Government of the Republic of Chile (hereinafter referred to as the "Contracting Parties'),
led by efforts to develop and consolidate mutually beneficial cooperation between the two States; and
Desiring to promote mutual cooperation in the fields of culture, education, science, mass media, youth and sport,
agree as follows:
I. CULTURE
In order to improve mutual knowledge and enrichment, the Parties shall develop cooperation in different areas of culture and in particular promote:
1. dissemination of the literature of the other state through translations of literary works,
2. presentation of works of art by authors of the other state,
3. exchange of books and other publications in the field of culture and art,
4. holding lectures, exhibitions and other artistic events organised by the relevant organisations;
5. the direct cooperation of museums, libraries, theatres, musical bodies and other artistic facilities and their representatives,
6. exchange of information, experience and specialists in the field of museum and conservation of architectural and cultural heritage,
7. research and in accordance with the law of its State, making public and university libraries available,
8. exchanges of artists and art groups.
II. EDUCATION AND SCIENCE
In order to develop mutually beneficial cooperation between the two States in the field of science and education, the Parties shall promote:
1. direct cooperation between schools and scientific institutions;
2. exchange of teachers and researchers of schools and scientific institutions,
3. participation of experts from the other Contracting Party in scientific congresses, conferences and other meetings;
4. the provision of scholarships and exchange of students and graduate students,
5. exchange of information and experience at all levels of schools in different scientific and technical fields and between scientific institutions;
6. assessment of the text of textbooks in those parts relating to the history and geography of the other State,
7. exchange of school curricula, scientific, pedagogical and methodological literature and other materials concerning all school degrees.

The Parties shall promote the mutual cooperation of the mass media, in particular:
1. cooperation between press agencies, newspapers and radio and television companies,
2. exchange of information, experience, specialists and representatives of press, radio and television organisations;
3. exchange of press, radio and television programmes;
4. cooperation between film companies of both Contracting Parties.
IV. YOUTH AND SPORT
The Parties shall promote the development of contacts in the field of youth and sport, in particular:
1. participation of representatives of their countries in international sports events, competitions and competitions organised in the territory of the State of the other Contracting Party;
2. cooperation between sports organisations of both Contracting Parties;
3. cooperation and exchange of youth and their organisations.
V. FINAL PROVISIONS
Specific forms and conditions of mutual cooperation in accordance with the provisions of this Agreement may be negotiated as necessary by the competent authorities of both Parties. The Parties shall inform each other by diplomatic means of such arrangements.
This Agreement shall be subject to national approval in the States of both Contracting Parties and shall enter into force on the date of receipt of a later note of such approval.
This Agreement shall be negotiated for an indefinite period. However, each Party may denounce it in writing by diplomatic means.
The Agreement shall expire six months after the date of service of the notice of notice to the other Contracting Party.
The programmes implemented shall be without prejudice to the termination of this Agreement unless otherwise agreed by the Parties.
Done at Santiago de Chile on 22 April 1994 in two original copies, each in the Czech and Spanish languages, the two texts being equally authentic.
