on the Agreement between the Government of the Czechoslovak Socialist Republic and the Government of the Hellenic Republic on Cultural Cooperation
On 10 February 1976 the Agreement between the Government of the Czechoslovak Socialist Republic and the Government of the Hellenic Republic on Cultural Cooperation was signed in Prague. The Agreement entered into force on 5 April 1977 pursuant to Article 6 thereof.
The Czech translation of the text of the Agreement is announced simultaneously.

AGREEMENT
between the Government of the Czechoslovak Socialist Republic and the Government of the Hellenic Republic on cultural cooperation
The Government of the Czechoslovak Socialist Republic and the Government of the Hellenic Republic,
led by efforts to develop and consolidate friendly relations between the two countries; and
Desiring to promote mutual cooperation in the fields of culture, science, education, the media and sport,
decide to conclude a cultural agreement and agree on the following:
I. EDUCATION AND SCIENCE
In order to strengthen ties between their countries, the Parties will promote cooperation in science and education.
The Parties shall:
1. promote and expand cooperation between universities and state scientific institutions;
2. seek to enhance cooperation and exchange of university scientists and teachers and assist them in their research work;
3. Invite, if possible, representatives of the other Party to participate in scientific congresses, conferences and other meetings organised by the other Party;
4. provide scholarships and carry out exchanges of students and graduate students of universities;
5. facilitate the exchange of experience at all levels of education and in various scientific and technical fields;
6. to undertake research and then to make changes to the textbooks, in particular those relating to the history and geography of the other country;
7. exchange school curriculum, scientific, pedagogical and methodological literature and other materials relating to all levels of education.
II. CULTURE
The Parties shall develop cooperation in the various areas of culture for which both Parties are interested in better mutual knowledge and shall in particular promote:
1. an initiative to disseminate the literature of the other country through translations of literary works;
2. presentation of works of art of the second country in theatres, concert halls, exhibition centres, cinemas, television and radio;
3. exchanges of books and other publications in the field of culture and art;
4. lectures and exhibitions, as well as artistic events and film weeks through the competent authorities of both Parties;
5. participation of representatives in international conferences, competitions and meetings dealing with cultural problems as well as at international festivals held by the other Party;
6. cooperation between art schools, museums, libraries, theatres and other cultural institutions;
7. the contacts of the associations of writers, composers, painters, sculptors, graphic artists, architects, actors and musicians, as well as among representatives of theatrical, film and musical associations;
8. exchange of experience and exchange of specialist visits to museum collections and conservation of architectural and cultural assets;
9. carrying out research by allowing access to archives, public and university libraries within the framework of each country's regulations;
10th exchange of artists and art groups.
III. Radio, TV, Kino
The Parties shall promote the cooperation of their mass media and, inter alia, shall:
1. facilitate cooperation between press agencies, newspapers, radio and television companies;
2. promote exchanges of representatives of their press, radio and television organisations;
3. exchange press materials, radio and television programmes;
4. facilitate cooperation between their film companies.
IV. SPORT
The Parties shall support:
1. participation of their representatives in international sports events, competitions and meetings organised by the other Party;
2. cooperation between sports associations in their countries.
V. GENERAL
1. In order to implement this Agreement, a Joint Czechoslovak-Greek Committee will be set up to meet plenary sessions once every two years, alternately in the Czechoslovak Socialist Republic and the Hellenic Republic, to draw up details in cooperation programmes, including financial conditions.
2. The provision of programmes drawn up by the Joint Committee shall be carried out by diplomatic channels between the Parties.
3. All exchanges foreseen in this Agreement, in particular exchanges of artists and groups of artists, shall be made on a reciprocal basis.
This Agreement shall be subject to approval under the national provisions of the Contracting Parties and shall enter into force on the date of the exchange of notes on such approval.
This Agreement shall remain in force for an unlimited period. It may be denounced by any Party by notice of termination. In this case, the Agreement shall expire 3 months after the date on which the other Party received this notification.
As demonstrated by the mandated representatives of both parties, this agreement was signed and secured by appropriate seals.
