on the Treaty on friendship and cooperation between the Czechoslovak Socialist Republic and the Yemen Arab Republic
On 2 April 1964, the Treaty of Friendship and Cooperation between the Czechoslovak Socialist Republic and the Yemen Arab Republic was signed in Prague.
The Treaty was approved by the National Assembly and ratified by the President of the Republic. The instruments of ratification were exchanged in Sana on 27 September 1966.
Pursuant to Article 9 thereof, the Treaty entered into force on 27 September 1966.
The Czech version of the Treaty is hereby published at the same time.

CONTRACT ON FRIENDS AND COOPERATION
between the Czechoslovak Socialist Republic and the Yemen Arab Republic
President of the Czechoslovak Socialist Republic and President of the Yemen Arab Republic
bearing in mind the traditional friendship between the people of both countries also expressed in the friendship treaties concluded between Czechoslovakia and Yemen on 16 August 1938 and 5 July 1956
led by efforts to pursue the objectives and principles of the United Nations Charter in relations between the two countries
Desiring to further develop and deepen all-round cooperation and mutual assistance between the two countries on the basis of respect for national sovereignty, non-interference in internal affairs, equality and mutual advantages
affirming loyalty to the principles of peaceful coexistence
recognising each other's contribution to the consolidation, development and application of these principles; and
being determined to further contribute to the mitigation of international tensions, the final destruction of colonialism in all its forms and manifestations, the removal of barriers to peaceful coexistence between states, the creation of air of trust between them and the development of universal international cooperation
convinced that they will make an effective contribution to ensuring the happiness and well-being of the people of both countries
they have decided to conclude the following friendship and cooperation agreement:
The Parties undertake to develop their relations on the basis of mutual recognition and respect for territorial integrity and political independence. The Czechoslovak Socialist Republic confirms its recognition of the sovereignty of the Republic of Yemen in Yemen.
There will be eternal peace and lasting friendship between Czechoslovakia and Yemen. The Contracting Parties undertake to resolve any dispute which may arise between them by direct negotiation and other peaceful means in accordance with the principles of the United Nations Charter.
The Parties declare that both States will participate, in accordance with the objectives and principles of the United Nations Charter, in all international actions aimed at ensuring world peace and security, developing universal peaceful cooperation between States, regardless of their political, social or economic establishment and the complete destruction of colonialism in all its forms and speeches.
The Parties shall exchange views on important international issues relating to the interests of both States and ensuring world peace and security and international cooperation.
The Contracting Parties are convinced that their mutual cooperation, beneficial for the construction and development of the national economy of both countries, is a firm basis for their peaceful and friendly relations and therefore undertake to further consolidate this cooperation and to provide the highest benefits in all matters relating to trade, navigation and other economic relations.
The Parties agree to further develop and promote mutual contacts and cooperation in the fields of education, culture, science and technology in order to identify the cultural wealth of the two countries as widely as possible and to enhance understanding between the peoples of the two countries.
Citizens, undertakings and other legal persons of one Contracting Party shall enjoy the same legal protection and assistance as their own citizens in the territory of the other Contracting Party and shall be able to appear before the courts and other authorities of the other Contracting Party under the same conditions as their own citizens in order to exercise their rights and interests.
The Contracting Parties and their competent authorities shall conclude the necessary contracts and agreements in order to develop contacts and to implement cooperation in accordance with the principles contained in this Treaty.
This Treaty will be ratified and will enter into force on the date of the exchange of instruments of ratification, which will be implemented in the Sana'a as soon as possible.
This Treaty shall remain in force for 10 years and shall be extended for another five years each time unless one of the Contracting Parties denies it in writing six months before its expiry.
Dane in Prague on 2 April 1964 in two copies, each in the Czech and Arabic languages, the two texts being equally authentic.
To prove this, this Treaty was signed and sealed.
