The Ministry of Foreign Affairs states that the Agreement between the Government of the Czech Republic and the Government of the Slovak Republic on the abolition of the visa requirement was signed in Prague on 29 October 1992.
The Agreement entered into force on 1 January 1993 on the basis of Article 9 thereof.
The Czech version of the Agreement is hereby published at the same time.
AGREEMENT
between the Government of the Czech Republic and the Government of the Slovak Republic on the visa waiver
Government of the Czech Republic and Government of the Slovak Republic
striving to simplify the mutual paths of citizens of the Czech Republic and the Slovak Republic
agree on the following:
Citizens of a State of one Contracting Party holding valid travel documents listed in the Annex to this Agreement may enter the territory of the State of the other Contracting Party and reside there without a visa.
(1) Holders of diplomatic or service passports who are members of a diplomatic mission or consular post of a State of one Contracting Party having its registered office in the territory of the State of the other Contracting Party may reside in the territory of the State of the other Contracting Party during their secondment without a visa.
(2) Family members living in the common household with the persons referred to in paragraph 1 may, for the duration of their secondment, stay without a visa in the territory of the State of the other Contracting Party if they themselves hold diplomatic or service passports.
Citizens of a State of one Contracting Party may enter the territory of the State of the other Contracting Party in any appropriate place, unless prohibited by the national provisions of the State of the Contracting Party concerned.
Citizens of a State of one Contracting Party shall be required to comply with its generally binding legislation when staying in the territory of the State of the other Contracting Party.
(1) This Agreement shall be without prejudice to the right of the Contracting Parties to refuse entry or stay on their territory to undesirable persons.
(2) The Contracting Parties undertake, at any time, to take over their territory without further formalities, the citizens of their State.
(1) The Contracting Parties may suspend for a transitional period, in whole or in part, the implementation of this Agreement, in order to protect the public order, safety or health of their nationals or for other serious reasons.
(2) The introduction and the repeal of such measures shall be notified immediately by diplomatic channels to the other Contracting Party and shall take effect immediately after such notification.
The Contracting Parties shall exchange travel documents by diplomatic means. In the event of changes to the valid or introduction of new travel documents, the exchange of their models shall take place in the same way.
This Agreement shall be negotiated for an indefinite period. The Contracting Parties may at any time denounce it in writing by diplomatic channels, the Agreement being terminated six months after the date of receipt of the notice.
This Agreement shall enter into force on 1 January 1993.
Dane in Prague on 29 October 1992 in two copies, each in the Czech and Slovak languages, both texts being equally authentic.

Annex

to the Agreement between the Government of the Czech Republic and the Government of the Slovak Republic on the visa waiver
The following shall be valid travel documents within the meaning of this Agreement:
1. for citizens of the Czech Republic:
(a) passport of the Czechoslovak Socialist Republic,
(b) diplomatic passport of the Czech and Slovak Federal Republic,
c) Service passport of the Czech and Slovak Federal Republic,
(d) passport of the Czech and Slovak Federal Republic,
(e) the maritime book of the Czech and Slovak Federal Republic registered by the competent authorities,
(f) a Czech and Slovak Federal Republic passport,
(g) diplomatic passport of the Czech Republic,
h) Service passport of the Czech Republic,
(ch) passport of the Czech Republic,
(i) the maritime book of the Czech Republic registered by the competent authorities;
(j) Czech passport,
k) ID card of the Czech and Slovak Federal Republic,
(l) Czech identity card.
2. for citizens of the Slovak Republic:
(a) passport of the Czechoslovak Socialist Republic,
(b) diplomatic passport of the Czech and Slovak Federal Republic,
c) Service passport of the Czech and Slovak Federal Republic,
(d) passport of the Czech and Slovak Federal Republic,
(e) the maritime book of the Czech and Slovak Federal Republic registered by the competent authorities,
(f) a Czech and Slovak Federal Republic passport,
(g) the diplomatic passport of the Slovak Republic;
(h) the service passport of the Slovak Republic;
(ch) passport of the Slovak Republic,
(i) a maritime book registered by the competent authorities of the Slovak Republic;
(j) the Slovak Republic's passport;
k) ID card of the Czech and Slovak Federal Republic,
(l) identity card of the Slovak Republic.
