on the negotiation of the Agreement between the Czech Republic and the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland on the termination of the Agreement between the Government of the Czech and Slovak Federal Republic and the Government of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland on the promotion and protection of investment signed in Prague on 10 July 1990 and amended by an exchange of notes made in Prague on 23 August 1991 and 24 October 1991
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs states that an Agreement between the Czech Republic and the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland on the termination of the Agreement between the Government of the Czech Republic and the Slovak Federal Republic and the Government of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland on the promotion and protection of investment1 was negotiated in Prague on 10 July 1990 and amended by an Exchange of Notes made in Prague on 23 August 1991 and 24 October 1991.
The Parliament of the Czech Republic agreed to the Agreement and the President of the Republic ratified the Agreement.
On the basis of the provisions set out in the notes, the Agreement entered into force on 1 March 2025 and this date the Agreement between the Government of the Czech and Slovak Federal Republic and the Government of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland on the promotion and protection of investment signed in Prague on 10 July 1990 and amended by an exchange note made in Prague on 23 August 1991 and 24 October 1991.
The English version of the note of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland and its translation into the Czech language and the Czech version of the Czech note which constitutes the Agreement shall be published at the same time.

The Embassy of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland in Prague shows respect for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic and has the honour to refer to the Agreement between the Government of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland and the Government of the Czech and Slovak Federal Republic on the promotion and protection of investment, signed in Prague on 10 July 1990 and amended by an exchange of notes made in Prague on 23 August 1991 and 24 October 1991 (Agreement).
Following negotiations between the Embassy and the Ministry, on behalf of the Government of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland ("the United Kingdom ') and the Government of the Czech Republic (together" the Parties'), the Embassy has the honour to propose the following:
The Parties hereby agree to terminate the Agreement explicitly; and
2. notwithstanding the third sentence of Article 14 of the Agreement, the provisions of the Agreement shall cease to have effect on investments made during the period of validity of the Agreement after the expiry of the Agreement.
If the above proposal is acceptable to the Government of the Czech Republic, the Embassy also has the honour to propose that this note, together with the relevant note of the Czech Republic, constitute the Agreement between the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland and the Czech Republic on the Termination of the Agreement between the Government of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland and the Government of the Czech and Slovak Federal Republic on the Promotion and Protection of Investment signed in Prague on 10 July 1990 and amended by the Exchange of Note made in Prague on 23 August 1991 and 24 October 1991 ("Termination Agreement ').
The Parties shall notify each other by diplomatic means of the completion of the procedures required under their right of entry into force of the Termination Agreement. The termination agreement shall enter into force on the first day of the month following receipt of the subsequent notification.
The Embassy of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland uses this opportunity to reassure the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic about its deep respect.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic shows respect for the Embassy of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland in Prague and has the honour to refer to the United Kingdom Note No 08 / 21 of 4 May 2021, which reads:
"The Embassy of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland in Prague shows respect for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic and has the honour to refer to the Agreement between the Government of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland and the Government of the Czech and Slovak Federal Republic on the promotion and protection of investment, signed in Prague on 10 July 1990 and amended in exchange of notes made in Prague on 23 August 1991 and 24 October 1991 (" the Agreement ").
Following negotiations between the Embassy and the Ministry, on behalf of the Government of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland ("the United Kingdom ') and the Government of the Czech Republic (together" the Parties'), the Embassy has the honour to propose the following:

In response, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic has the honour to announce to the Embassy of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland that the Government of the Czech Republic accepts the above proposal and confirms that the Note of the United Kingdom No 08 / 21 of 4 May 2021 and that the note of responsibility constitutes the Agreement between the Czech Republic and the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland on the expiry of the Agreement between the Government of the Czech and Slovak Federal Republic and the Government of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland on the promotion and protection of investments signed in Prague on 10 July 1990 and amended by the Exchange of Notes made in Prague on 23 August 1991 and 24 October 1991, which will enter into force on the first day of the month following notification.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic uses this opportunity to reassure the Embassy of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland in Prague of its deep respect.
