concerning the Convention between the Government of the Czechoslovak Socialist Republic and the Government of the United Arab Republic on cooperation in the field of health
On 26 November 1964, the Convention between the Government of the Czechoslovak Socialist Republic and the Government of the United Arab Republic on Health Cooperation was signed in Cairo.
The Convention entered into force on the date of signature, i.e. 26 November 1964, on the basis of Article 13 thereof.
The Czech translation of the Convention is being announced simultaneously.

CONVENTION
between the Government of the Czechoslovak Socialist Republic and the Government of the United Arab Republic on cooperation in the field of health
The Government of the Czechoslovak Socialist Republic and the Government of the United Arab Republic, led by the desire to contribute together to the continuous development of health care and to improve medical care and to deepen and consolidate friendly relations between their countries, have decided to conclude this Convention on cooperation in the field of health. To that end, they appointed their agents:

who, after exchanging their full powers which they found in good order and proper form, have agreed as follows:
The Parties shall develop cooperation between the two countries and promote the exchange of experience on health and medical science issues.
The Parties shall exchange experiences on the education and management of health workers, in particular on preventive and medical care, hygiene and anti-epidemic care, health education and the use of medical tools, instruments and medicines.
The Contracting Parties shall exchange information and material relating to meetings, conferences and meetings dealing with health issues. Should one of the Contracting Parties organise such events with international participation, it shall send an invitation to the other Contracting Party.
The Contracting Parties will exchange medical literature, teaching aids, medical films, visual aids and other medical education materials.
The Parties shall facilitate the mutual transmission and reception of doctors and other health professionals for the purpose of their study, training and acquisition of specialisation, and, where appropriate, for the purpose of studying certain types of diseases.
The Parties shall exchange experience on the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of such diseases, as well as on the epidemiological situation within their territories, in order to cooperate in the fight against infectious diseases.
The Parties shall develop and deepen cooperation and exchange of experience, in particular between research institutes, secondary health schools and other health institutions.
The Czechoslovak Party will assist in the implementation of health programmes of the United Arab Republic, in particular by sending, at the request of the competent authorities of the United Arab Republic, professors and other health educators, as well as experts for the establishment and management of medical, medical, research and specialised institutes, laboratories and other medical facilities, as well as other health professionals needed to implement those programmes.
The competent authorities and bodies of the Contracting Parties shall receive each other citizens of the other Contracting Party to their medical facilities for treatment and shall provide the citizens of the other Contracting Party residing in their territory with the necessary treatment for sudden illness. Details, in particular the scope and conditions, shall be laid down by the Ministries of Health of the Contracting Parties by a separate agreement in accordance with the provisions of Article 11 (d) of this Convention.
The implementation of this Convention shall be entrusted to the Ministry of Health of the Contracting Parties, which shall negotiate, as appropriate, specific cooperation plans.
Reimbursement of costs arising from cooperation under this Convention shall be effected by the Contracting Parties according to the following principles:
(a) medical literature, teaching and visual aids, films and health care materials will be exchanged free of charge;
(b) in the case of mutual transmission by delegations or visits to meetings and conferences, the sending Party shall bear the cost of travelling to and from the place of destination; the host party shall cover the costs of accommodation, meals and local travel related to the convention or conference programme;
(c) the costs of broadcasting and residence of doctors and other healthcare professionals in the territory of the other Contracting Party shall be borne by the Contracting Party for whose benefit or at whose request they have been seconded, unless otherwise agreed;
(d) the costs of providing constitutional and other treatment within the meaning of Article 9 of this Convention shall be borne by the Party sending the sick; medical treatment for sudden illness shall be provided to citizens of the other Party free of charge.
The mutual cost accounting provided for in Article 11 of this Convention shall be carried out through the Contracting Parties' state banks in accordance with the relevant payment agreement applicable between the two Contracting Parties.
This Convention shall enter into force on the date of signature; shall be concluded for a period of five years and shall be extended for a further period of five years, unless one of the Contracting Parties denies it in writing six months before the expiry of the relevant period.
