laying down chemical health requirements for each type of food and food raw material, conditions of use of additives, auxiliary and food supplements
According to Article 19 (a) of Act No. 110 / 1997 Coll., on Food and Tobacco Products, and amending and supplementing certain related laws, as amended by Act No. 306 / 2000 Coll., hereinafter referred to as "the Act":
(3) The food supplements listed in Annex 4 may be used to enrich foodstuffs up to a fixed percentage of the reference dose. The use of food supplements not listed in Annex 4 provides for specific legislation.5)
(4) Food supplements, (6) which may be used to enrich foodstuffs, their form, limits and other conditions of use and labelling are laid down in Annex 4.
(3) For substances which are used either as a food supplement or as an additive, purity and identity shall be assessed according to the purpose for which the substance was used in the manufacture of the food.
Decree No 298 / 1997 Coll., laying down the chemical health requirements for individual food and food ingredients, their conditions of use, their labelling on packaging, the purity and identity requirements for additives and food supplements and the microbiological requirements for food supplements and additives, as amended by Decree No. 3 / 1999 Coll., Decree No. 323 / 1999 Coll. and Decree No. 274 / 2000 Coll., is hereby repealed.
Transitional provision
Foodstuffs produced and put into circulation before the date of application of this Decree shall be assessed in accordance with existing legislation.
Efficacy
This Decree shall take effect on 1 March 2002.

FOODSTUFFS
Preliminary provisions
(1) This Annex lays down the conditions for enrichment of food supplements. Food enrichment is the addition of food supplements to foods to increase their food content.
(2) The provisions of this Annex shall be without prejudice to other uses of substances which, according to their function, may be either a food supplement or an additive in a food. Conditions of use as additives are set out in Annex 1.
(3) The provisions of this Annex shall not apply to foodstuffs for particular nutritional uses.
Authorised substances, reference doses
The food supplements authorised and their reference doses are listed in Table 1. The reference dose is the quantity of food supplement which is the basis for determining the upper limit of enrichment.

Food species, permitted quantities
(1) Food supplements may be enriched by the foods listed in Table 2 up to a maximum of the percentage of the reference dose indicated in the table. Furthermore, iodine salt may be enriched.
(2) Foodstuffs which need to be adapted for use as instructed by the manufacturer before consumption and which, after preparation, are among the foods listed in Table 2 may be enriched in such a way that the percentage of the reference daily dose is not exceeded in the food intended for consumption.
(3) According to the estimated daily average consumption, foodstuffs (except edible salt) are classified in groups A, B, C, and D.

Enrichment of edible salt
Enrichment with iodine of edible salt shall be carried out in such a way that the iodine content (expressed as an element) is not less than 20 mg.kg-1 and more than 34 mg.kg-1 of salt.
Forms of food supplements
Individual food supplements intended for enrichment of foodstuffs may be added to foods exclusively in the forms set out in Table 3.

Marking and putting into circulation
(1) Specific provisions apply to the labelling of food supplements in fortified foods. 1) In cases provided for in a specific regulation, the content of food supplements in fortified foods shall be marked as part of the nutrition (nutritional) marking.
(2) The content of food supplements at the end of the minimum durability period or the shelf life period of the fortified food shall be as indicated on the packaging of the product.

15) The list lists the code numbers for substances with numbers E 450 (vi), E 450 (v), E 450 (i), E 451 (i), E 451 (ii), E 452 (i), E 452 (ii), E 452 (iii), E 452 (iv). In the countries of the European Union, the number codes E 540, E 450a, E 450a, E 450b, E 450b, E 450c, E 450c, E 450c, E 543, E 544 were previously used for these substances.
