on the Treaty on friendship and cooperation between the Czechoslovak Socialist Republic and the Kingdom of Cambodia
On 27 November 1960, the Treaty of Friendship and Cooperation between the Czechoslovak Socialist Republic and the Kingdom of Cambodia was signed in Prague.
The Treaty was approved by the National Assembly on 18 January 1961 and was ratified by the President of the Republic on 11 February 1961.
The instruments of ratification were exchanged in Phnom Penh on 2 May 1961.
Pursuant to Article IV thereof, the Treaty entered into force on 2 May 1961.
The Czech version of the Treaty is hereby published at the same time.

TREATY
about friendship and cooperation
between
The Czechoslovak Socialist Republic and the Kingdom of Cambodia
the Czechoslovak Socialist Republic and the Kingdom of Cambodia,
Desiring to strengthen friendly relations that have been developing between the two countries for a long time,
led by efforts to deepen and strengthen mutual friendly economic and cultural contacts and cooperation between Czechoslovakia and Cambodia, with mutual respect for national sovereignty, non-interference in internal affairs, equality and mutual advantages,
firmly committed to contributing to mutual relations to mitigate international tensions, create a climate of trust between states and develop international cooperation,
convinced that the development and consolidation of friendly relations and cooperation between them correspond to the interests of both countries,
Desiring to pursue in their mutual relations the objectives and principles of the United Nations Charter,
have decided to conclude this Treaty.
(1) There will be eternal peace and lasting friendship between Czechoslovakia and Cambodia.
(2) The High Contracting Parties will address all the issues that might arise between them by exclusively peaceful means within the framework of the United Nations Charter.
The High Contracting Parties will develop and consolidate their contacts in the field of science, culture, technology and education and thus contribute to a better understanding of each other between the peoples of Czechoslovakia and Cambodia.
High Contracting Parties, based on the belief that mutual economic cooperation is a solid basis for their peaceful and friendly relations and is in the interests of peaceful construction and progress of their countries, will help each other to develop economic cooperation beneficial to both countries.
(1) This Treaty shall be ratified in accordance with the constitutional provisions of each of the High Contracting Parties and shall enter into force on the date of the exchange of instruments of ratification.
(2) It will remain in force for a period of 10 years from the date on which it enters into force and will be silently extended for another 10-year period unless one of the High Contracting Parties denies it in writing six months before the expiry of the current 10-year period.
Dane in Prague on 27 November 1960 in duplicate in the Czech, Khmer and French languages, all three texts being equally authentic; in the case of a different interpretation, the French text shall be decisive.
