on the Treaty on friendship and cooperation between the Czechoslovak Socialist Republic and the People's Republic of Mongolia
On 18 June 1973, the Treaty of Friendship and Cooperation between the Czechoslovak Socialist Republic and the People's Republic of Mongolia was signed in Ulanbatar.
The Treaty was approved by the Federal Assembly of the Czechoslovak Socialist Republic and ratified by the President of the Republic. The instruments of ratification were exchanged in Prague on 5 February 1974.
Pursuant to Article 11 thereof, the Treaty entered into force on 5 February 1974.
The Czech version of the Treaty is hereby published at the same time.

TREATY
on friendship and cooperation between the Czechoslovak Socialist Republic and the People's Republic of Mongolia
Czechoslovak Socialist Republic and Mongolian People's Republic,
guided by the sincere wish of both countries to develop and deepen the relations of brotherly friendship, universal cooperation and mutual cooperation between the Czechoslovak Socialist Republic and the Mongolian People's Republic,
deeply convinced that friendly relations between the two countries, based on the unwavering principles of marxism-leninism and socialist internationalism, fully correspond to the life interests of the Czechoslovak and Mongolian people and serve the interests of the socialist community,
Recognising that the mutual support, consolidation and protection of socialist achievements achieved through the heroic efforts and dedication of the people of each country, as well as the strengthening of the unity and integrity of the world socialist community, are a common internationalist duty of the socialist countries,
determined to make every possible contribution to ensuring peace and security in Europe, Asia and the world on the basis of the consistent implementation of the policy of peaceful coexistence between states with different social structures and in accordance with the objectives and principles of the United Nations Charter,
Believing that close economic cooperation between the two countries is fully in line with the objectives and tasks of further development and improvement of socialist economic integration, gradual convergence and balancing of the level of economic development of the Member States of the Council of mutual economic assistance,
highly appreciating the role of the Treaty of Friendship and Mutual Cooperation between the Czechoslovak Republic and the People's Republic of Mongolia of 8 April 1957 in developing friendly relations between the two States,
taking into account the experience gained and the fruitful results of cooperation between the two States in recent years and also taking into account the major changes that have taken place in the world during this period,
have decided to conclude this contract and have agreed as follows:
In accordance with the principles of socialist internationalism, the High Contracting Parties will continue to strengthen brotherly friendship between the Czechoslovak and Mongolian people, develop relations of universal cooperation and mutual assistance between the two States on the basis of respect for national sovereignty and independence, equality and non-interference in internal affairs.
The High Contracting Parties will unwavering develop and deepen economic and scientific and technical cooperation between the two countries, building on the principles of mutual assistance, mutual benefit and international socialist division of labour. In this spirit, the Parties will promote and develop multilateral cooperation between the Member States of the Council of mutual economic assistance, contributing to the convergence and balance of their level of economic development by implementing a comprehensive programme for further deepening and improving cooperation and the development of socialist economic integration within the Council of mutual economic assistance.
The High Contracting Parties will continue to develop and expand contacts and exchanges of experience between the two countries in the fields of culture and science, education, health, literature, art, press, radio, television, film, tourism, physical education and sport and in other areas.
The High Contracting Parties will encourage the development of cooperation and direct contacts between national authorities, institutions and social organisations of both countries as an important means of bringing the peoples of the Czechoslovak Socialist Republic and the Mongol People's Republic closer together, and the mutual recognition of life and experience in building a new society in both countries.
The High Contracting Parties will make every effort to consolidate the unity and unity of the world's socialist community - the main pillars of all revolutionary and progressive forces in the world.
The High Contracting Parties will consistently pursue a policy of peaceful coexistence between states with different social structures and will contribute to the consolidation of international peace and security worldwide in accordance with the principles of the United Nations Charter. The Parties will make every effort to avert imperialist aggression, to alleviate international tensions, to stop arms racing and to achieve universal and complete disarmament, to complete the destruction of colonialism in all its forms and speeches, as well as to provide support to nations that have liberated themselves from colonial rule and have embarked on the path of independent development and social progress.
The High Contracting Parties will make a strong effort to facilitate the development of friendly cooperation between states and the establishment of effective security systems both in Europe and Asia.
The High Contracting Parties will exchange opinions and information, consolidate their opinions and consult on important international issues affecting the interests of both states, as well as peace and security worldwide.
On the basis of this Treaty and for the purpose of its implementation, specific contracts and agreements will be concluded between governments, national authorities, institutions and organisations of both Parties.
This Treaty shall not affect the obligations of the High Contracting Parties arising from bilateral and multilateral agreements and agreements.
This Agreement shall be concluded for a period of 20 years and shall be automatically extended for a further 10-year period each time unless it is terminated in writing by any of the High Contracting Parties 12 months before the expiry of the relevant period.
This Treaty is subject to ratification and will enter into force on the date of exchange of instruments of ratification, which will be implemented in Prague at the shortest possible time.
Done at Ulanbátar, 18 June 1973, in duplicate, each in the Czech and Mongolian languages, the two texts being equally authentic.
