on the Agreement between the Government of the Czechoslovak Socialist Republic and the Government of the Benin People's Republic on Cultural and Scientific Cooperation
On 23 May 1983, the Agreement between the Government of the Czechoslovak Socialist Republic and the Government of the Benin People's Republic on Cultural and Scientific Cooperation was signed in Cotonou. The Agreement entered into force on 3 March 1987 on the basis of Article 11 thereof.
The Czech version of the Agreement is hereby published at the same time.

AGREEMENT
between the Government of the Czechoslovak Socialist Republic and the Government of the Benin People's Republic on cultural and scientific cooperation
Government of the Czechoslovak Socialist Republic and Government of the Benin People's Republic
led by the desire to promote and develop cooperation relations in the fields of culture, science, education, information, health, youth and sport,
convinced that this cooperation will contribute to deepening friendly relations between the two States,
they have decided to negotiate this Agreement and to this end have agreed as follows:
The Parties shall promote cooperation in the fields of culture, art, science, education, mass media, film, tourism, health, youth and sports.
The Parties shall promote cooperation and exchange of information and experience between the cultural, artistic, sports, health and education institutions and institutions of their countries, in particular:
(a) promoting exchanges of research and teaching staff;
(b) the organisation of exhibitions;
c) organizing concerts, theatre performances and other artistic and sporting performances;
(d) translation of publications and publishing of literary and scientific works;
(e) exchange of books and other publications on culture, art, tourism, youth and sport;
(f) exchanging information on life in the States of the Contracting Parties with a view to disseminating objective information in textbooks and curricula and audiovisual means;
(g) promoting exchanges of experts in the fields of culture, art, science, health, sport and youth;
(h) support for film production, exchanges and presentation.
The Contracting Parties shall enable the provision of scholarships to citizens of the other Contracting Party through proper and postgraduate studies at their universities and other educational establishments and training traineeships.
The Parties shall examine, in order to negotiate a possible agreement, the question of equivalence of evidence of education, scientific degrees and titles obtained in the territory of one or the other Contracting Party.
The Contracting Parties shall, in accordance with their national rules in force, allow access to their archives, libraries, museums and art galleries to national citizens of the other Contracting Party.
The Parties shall facilitate the participation of representatives of the State of the other Contracting Party in meetings, conferences, festivals and other international events organised in their territory.
The Parties shall promote the cooperation of their bodies and organisations active in the press, radio, television and film sectors, in particular the education of professionals, the provision of technical assistance in the cadre and material equipment sectors and the exchange of radio and television programmes, journalists, technicians and directors.
The Parties shall promote cooperation on the youth and sport sectors, in particular by exchanging sports cooperatives, education managers, providing technical assistance on the cadre and material equipment sectors.
The Contracting Parties shall, in the framework of the rules in force, provide the nationals of the State of the other Contracting Party who will be seconded under this Agreement with the necessary conditions to carry out their tasks.
State citizens of the sending State must comply with the applicable national rules of the receiving State.
For the purpose of implementing this Agreement, the Parties shall negotiate cooperation programmes covering agreed actions and the financial conditions for their implementation for certain periods.
This Agreement shall be subject to the approval of the competent authorities of each Contracting Party and shall enter into force on the date of exchange of the instrument of approval.
This agreement shall be negotiated for a period of five years and shall then be extended silently by another year. Where one of the Contracting Parties expresses a wish to amend or terminate it, it shall notify it in writing six months before the date of entry into force of the requested amendment or notice.
Notwithstanding denunciation, the provisions of this Agreement shall remain in force until all programmes agreed by the competent authorities of the Parties under this Agreement have been concluded.
Done at Cotonou on 23 May 1983 in duplicate, each in the Czech and French languages, the two texts being equally authentic.
