concerning the Convention between the Government of the Czechoslovak Socialist Republic and the Government of the Democratic Republic of Algeria and the People's Republic on cooperation in the field of health
On 16 September 1966 the Convention between the Government of the Czechoslovak Socialist Republic and the Government of the Democratic Republic of Algeria and the People's Republic of Algeria on cooperation in the field of health was signed in Algiers.
Pursuant to Article 13 thereof, the Convention entered into force on 16 September 1966.
The Czech translation of the Convention is being announced simultaneously.

CONVENTION
between the Government of the Czechoslovak Socialist Republic and the Government of the Algerian Democratic and People's Republic on cooperation in the field of health
The Government of the Czechoslovak Socialist Republic and the Government of the Algerian Democratic and People's Republic, led by the desire to deepen cooperation in the field of health and thus further expand and consolidate friendly relations between the two states, have agreed as follows:
The Parties shall develop cooperation and promote the exchange of experience on health and medical science issues, so that such cooperation contributes to the constant improvement of the health status of the people of both countries.
The Parties shall exchange expertise gained in the field of health.
This exchange will in particular apply to health methods such as prevention, hygiene, the fight against epidemics, health education, and the means used.
The Parties shall exchange publications and information, medical films, means and methods of health education, in particular audiovisual.
The Parties shall develop and deepen cooperation through the exchange of experience between the Health Research Department and the Department of Education and Education of the Ministry of Health and other Czechoslovak professional establishments, on the one hand, and the Algeria National Health Institute and other professional establishments, on the other.
The competent authorities and bodies of the Contracting Parties shall exchange plans and materials on their organised medical slopes, conferences and meetings, in particular of an international nature, and shall invite representatives of the other Contracting Party to such actions.
The Parties shall cooperate in the professional training of health professionals in particular in the following areas:
1. promote the exchange of doctors and other health professionals for the purpose of their training and specialisation and, where appropriate, the study of certain diseases;
2. exchange educational experience, teaching tools and health documentation.
The competent Czechoslovak administrative authorities will assist the development of Algerian health by sending experts to Algeria at the request of the competent Algerian administrative authorities for the education of medical personnel, doctors and other healthcare professionals.
The competent Czechoslovak administrations will further facilitate the study of Algerian staff in their health schools and establishments.
In order to prevent the spread of infectious diseases, the competent authorities and the institutions of the Contracting Parties will exchange periodic reports on the epidemiological situation.
The competent authorities and institutions of the Contracting Parties shall receive each other from the sick other Contracting Parties to their health facilities for the purposes of institutional treatment and shall provide the citizens of the other Contracting Party residing in their territory with the necessary emergency treatment. Details, in particular the scope and conditions, shall be laid down by the Ministry of Health of the two States by a separate agreement in accordance with the provisions of Article 11 (4) of this Convention.
The implementation of this Convention will be entrusted to the health ministries of the two States, which will negotiate specific cooperation plans as necessary.
The costs associated with the implementation of this Convention shall be borne by the Contracting Parties in accordance with the following principles:
1. medical literature, teaching and audiovisual aids, lists of films and health care material shall be exchanged free of charge;
2. the reimbursement of costs associated with broadcasting or participation in meetings, conferences and meetings shall be agreed in the specific cooperation plans negotiated pursuant to Article 10 of this Convention;
3. the costs associated with the posting and residence of doctors and other healthcare professionals in the territory of the other Contracting Party shall be borne by the Party for whose benefit or at whose request they have been seconded;
4. the costs of providing constitutional and other treatment pursuant to Article 9 of this Convention shall be borne by the Party sending the sick.
Medical assistance for acute illness will be provided to citizens of the other Contracting Party free of charge.
The mutual cost accounting referred to in Article 11 of this Convention shall be carried out in accordance with a valid payment agreement between the two States.
This Convention shall enter into force on the date of signature. It shall be closed for a period of five years and shall be automatically extended for another five years unless one of the Contracting Parties denies it at six months' notice.
