on the Agreement between the Czechoslovak Republic and the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics on the final settlement of property and financial issues linked to the unification of Zakarpatian Ukraine with the Ukrainian Soviet Socialist Republic
An agreement was negotiated between the Czechoslovak Republic and the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics in Moscow on 6 July 1957 on the final settlement of property and financial issues linked to the unification of Zakarpatian Ukraine with the Ukrainian Soviet Socialist Republic.
The National Assembly gave its consent to the Agreement on 31 October 1957 and the President of the Republic ratified it on 23 December 1957. The instruments of ratification were exchanged in Prague on 8 January 1958.
According to Article 6, the Agreement became effective on the date of the replacement of the instruments of ratification, i.e. on 8 January 1958.

AGREEMENT
between the Czechoslovak Republic and the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics on the final settlement of property and financial issues linked to the unification of Zakarpatian Ukraine with the Ukrainian Soviet Socialist Republic
The President of the Czechoslovak Republic and the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet Union of the Soviet Socialist Republics, based on the Treaty on Zakarpatsky Ukraine, concluded between the Czechoslovak Republic and the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics on 29 June 1945, as well as the Protocol to this Treaty concluded on the same day, in an effort finally and fully to deal with property and financial issues linked to the unification of Zakarpatian Ukraine with the Ukrainian Soviet Socialist Republic, decided to conclude this Agreement and appointed for that purpose by their Agents:

who, having exchanged their powers of attorney and found them in proper form and in full order, agreed as follows:
By closing this Agreements shall be fully settled and shall be definitively terminated:
1. claims by the Czechoslovak Republic against the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics for compensation for immovable property left in the territory of Zakarpatskaya Ukraine:
(a) persons of Czech and Slovak nationality who had their permanent residence in the territory of Zakarpatskaya Ukraine and opted for citizenship of the Czechoslovak Republic under the Treaty between the Czechoslovak Republic and the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics on Zakarpatské Ukraine of 29 June 1945;
(b) persons of Ukrainian and Russian nationality who fought against Germany for the liberation of Czechoslovakia and members of their families, if they were resident in the territory of Zakarpatskaya Ukraine and opted for citizenship of the Czechoslovak Republic;
(c) persons of Czech and Slovak nationality who, as a result of the hostile occupation, have had to leave the territory of Zakarpatskaya Ukraine and to be equal to those established by legal persons who, in view of the national composition of their statutory bodies as they were before the occupation, must be regarded as Czech or Slovak;
(d) other Czechoslovak citizens who had real estate on the territory of Zakarpatskaya Ukraine on 29 June 1945.
2. claims of the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics against the Czechoslovak Republic for compensation for immovable property left in the territory of the Czechoslovak Republic by persons of Ukrainian and Russian nationality who had permanent residence in the territory of the Czechoslovak Republic and opted for citizenship of the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics under the Treaty between the Czechoslovak Republic and the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics on Zakarpatsky Ukraine of 29 June 1945.
The following claims shall be settled by the conclusion of this Agreement and shall cease to exist between the Parties until 29 June 1945:
(a) the claims of legal persons of the Czechoslovak Republic against the physical persons of Zakarpatské Ukraine and the claims of legal persons of Zakarpatské Ukraine against the physical persons of the Czechoslovak Republic;
(b) claims by legal persons of the Czechoslovak Republic against legal persons of the Zakarpatské Ukraine and claims by legal persons of the Zakarpatské Ukraine against legal persons of the Czechoslovak Republic;
(c) the claims of the physical persons of the Czechoslovak Republic against the legal persons of Zakarpatsky Ukraine and the claims of the physical persons of Zakarpatsky Ukraine against the legal persons of the Czechoslovak Republic;
(d) claims of legal persons of the Czechoslovak Republic concerning immovable property left in the territory of Zakarpatské Ukraine and claims of legal persons of the Zakarpatské Ukraine, relating to immovable property left in the territory of the Czechoslovak Republic.
The Union of Soviet Socialist Republics will pay the difference in the amounts of mutual claims referred to in Article 1 of this Agreement for the purposes of full and final compensation. These amounts have been determined by the Contracting Parties on the basis of the principles agreed between them for the valuation of assets.
State authorities and legal entities of one Party shall not discuss claims by physical and legal persons of the other Party, as negotiated by this Agreement. Such claims shall be settled by a party whose citizen or legal person has entered them.
By concluding this Agreement, all property and financial issues related to the Treaty between the Czechoslovak Republic and the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics on Zakarpatskaya Ukraine of 29 June 1945 and the Protocol thereto are fully and definitively settled.
This Agreement shall be subject to ratification; the date of exchange of the instruments of ratification to be implemented in Prague will become effective.
This Agreement was drawn up in Moscow on 6 July 1957 in duplicate, each in the Czech and Russian languages, in which both texts are equally authentic.
