The Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that on 17 December 1997 the Joint Committee of the European Community and the European Free Trade Association (EC- EFTA) "Common Transit Scheme" Resolution 4 / 97 amending Appendix VIII to Annex II to the Convention of 20 May 1987 on a common transit procedure was adopted in Brussels. *)
Order No 4 / 97 entered into force on 1 February 1998 on the basis of Article 2 thereof and thus entered into force for the Czech Republic.
The Czech translation of the resolution is announced simultaneously.

amending Appendix VIII to Annex II to the Convention of 20 May 1987
on a common transit procedure
Joint Committee -
based on the Convention of 20 May 1987 on a common transit procedure (1), in particular Article 15 (3) (a),
taking into account the following reasons:
Appendix VIII to Annex II to the Convention contains a list of goods the transit of which may, where appropriate, increase the flat-rate guarantee. In order to simplify the administrative procedure, it appears appropriate that the different lists of sensitive goods existing under the Community transit procedure and the common transit procedure should be summarised in a single list. Experience has shown that that Appendix VIII should contain only those goods for which fraud of a significant scale has been detected -

Appendix VIII to Annex II to the Convention is replaced by the Appendix to this Resolution.
This resolution shall enter into force on 1 February 1998.
