concerning the Agreement between the Czechoslovak Republic and the Republic of India on cultural cooperation
On 7 July 1959, the Agreement on Cultural Cooperation between the Czechoslovak Republic and the Republic of India was signed in New Delhi.
The President of the Republic ratified the Agreement on 8 February 1960 and the instruments of ratification were exchanged in Prague on 10 February 1960.
According to its Article VI, the Agreement entered into force on 10 February 1960.
The Czech version of the Agreement is hereby published at the same time.

AGREEMENT
between the Czechoslovak Republic and the Republic of India on cultural cooperation
Czechoslovakia
and
Republic of India
led by efforts to consolidate the ties of friendship between the peoples of both countries, to promote cultural relations between Czechoslovakia and India and to develop mutual cooperation in the fields of science, education and culture,
have decided to conclude a cultural cooperation agreement and have appointed to that end their agents:

Those who exchanged their powers of attorney and found them in good and proper form agreed as follows:
Both High Contracting Parties will support:
(a) contacts between representatives of education, science, culture and the arts of both countries;
(b) the recruitment of staff seconded by the other Party or other delegated persons recommended by the other Party for the purpose of their education in the educational, cultural, scientific, technical and industrial institutions of the other country;
(c) the provision of scholarships to students to continue their studies on the territory of the other Party in the fields of science, industry and technology and in other fields;
(d) cooperation between scientific and research institutes and artistic and literary organisations;
(e) organisation of scientific and artistic exhibitions, theatre and film performances, concerts, radio and television broadcasting; details shall be agreed to that end in any such case;
(f) the mutual exchange and distribution of books, magazines, scientific and artistic objects, films, etc., of the other Party.
Both High Contracting Parties shall examine the issue of the establishment of cultural facilities in their countries under the relevant legislation.
Both sides will support as much as possible contacts between the two countries in the field of physical education and sport.
Both Parties shall endeavour to facilitate the mutual recognition of degrees, diplomas and certificates issued by universities and other education bodies.
In order to assist in the implementation of this Agreement and in the design of programmes to be adopted under this Agreement, each of the High Contracting Parties may, if necessary, establish an Indian Advisory Committee on its territory. Each committee shall consist of persons appointed by the Government of the country concerned and representatives of the other Party's embassy.
This Agreement shall be ratified as soon as possible.
This Agreement will enter into force on the date of exchange of instruments of ratification, which will take place in Prague.
This Agreement shall be concluded for a period of five years from the date of entry into force. Each Contracting Party may terminate the Agreement by giving notice of at least six months before the expiry of that period. Upon expiry of that period, the Agreement shall remain in force unless one of the Contracting Parties denies it within six months.
In order to prove that, the said agents have signed this Agreement in duplicate in the Czech, Hindi and English languages; all texts have the same validity but, in case of doubt, the English version is decisive.
