PROTOCOL
between the Czechoslovak Socialist Republic and the Republic of Cuba on the visa waiver
The Government of the Czechoslovak Socialist Republic and the Revolutionary Government of the Republic of Cuba, guided by the desire to further deepen their friendly relations, decided to abolish the visa requirement for the travel of citizens of both states and agreed as follows:
Citizens of the Contracting Parties may travel without visas to the territory of the other Contracting Party for the purpose of temporary residence or transit to the extent and under the conditions laid down in this Protocol.
Advantages under Article This Protocol may also be used by citizens of both Contracting Parties if they hold a diplomatic, service or special passport issued by the competent authority of the State of which they are citizens. Holders of such travel documents may cross the national borders of the Contracting Parties at all border crossing points for international travel.
Citizens of the Contracting Parties to which the provisions of this Protocol apply may stay in the territory of the other Contracting Party for a period of 90 days from the date of entry into its territory.
The competent authorities of the Contracting Parties may, where justified, extend the stay in their territory, but no longer than the period of validity of the travel document.
Citizens of the Contracting Parties may, during their temporary stay in the territory of the other Contracting Party, engage in an economic or other activity with the prior authorisation of the competent authority of that Contracting Party.
If a citizen of one Contracting Party loses his travel document during his stay in the territory of the other Contracting Party, he shall notify the competent local authorities which give him the confirmation.
The competent diplomatic mission or consular post shall in this case issue a replacement travel document which shall be accompanied by an exit visa of the Contracting Party in whose territory the travel document has been lost.
The competent authorities of the Contracting Parties shall inform their citizens of the obligation to comply with the laws of the State to which they are travelling and of the timely fulfilment of the reporting obligation.
Provisions of this The Protocol shall not affect the right of the Contracting Parties to refuse entry or stay on their territory to undesirable persons.
The competent authorities of the Contracting Parties have informed each other of the travel documents in force and have agreed to inform each other of the introduction of new travel documents and to exchange their models.
The Contracting Parties shall, where appropriate, inform each other by diplomatic or other means of experience in the application of the provisions of this Protocol. Any extension of these provisions to other types of travel documents will be agreed by exchange of notes.
This Protocol shall enter into force on the date of signature and shall remain in force unless one of the Contracting Parties denies it in writing at three months' notice.
