of 12 February 1969
on the Trade Agreement between the Czechoslovak Socialist Republic and the Kingdom of Norway
The Trade Agreement between the Czechoslovak Socialist Republic and the Kingdom of Norway was signed in Oslo on 3 December 1968.
Pursuant to Article 8 thereof, the Agreement entered into force on 1 January 1969.

Minister:

TRADE AGREEMENT
between the Czechoslovak Socialist Republic and the Kingdom of Norway
The Government of the Czechoslovak Socialist Republic and the Government of the Kingdom of Norway, wishing to facilitate the development of economic relations and to promote the expansion of trade between the two countries on the basis of equality and mutual benefit, have agreed as follows:
The exchange of goods between the Czechoslovak Socialist Republic and the Kingdom of Norway shall take place between 1 January 1969 and 31 December 1973 in accordance with the provisions of this Agreement and under the import and export rules applicable in each of the two countries.
The Government of the Czechoslovak Socialist Republic and the Government of the Kingdom of Norway will take all necessary measures to extend as far as possible the exchange of goods between the two countries.
The Contracting Parties shall limit as far as possible the administrative formalities relating to the import and export of goods.
The exchange of goods is not limited to goods listed in lists A (Norwegian exports) and B (Czechoslovak exports). List A has an indicative character, whereas list B contains only goods which cannot be imported into Norway without import authorisation. Czechoslovak exports will also consist of other goods, the vast majority of which do not require import permits in Norway.
If new annual instruments are not agreed before the end of the calendar year, the instruments still in force for the following year shall be automatically renewed.
All payments between the Czechoslovak Socialist Republic and the Kingdom of Norway shall be made in freely convertible currencies in accordance with the foreign exchange rules applicable in each of the two countries.
Contracts for export or import of goods will be concluded on the Czechoslovak side by foreign trade organisations as separate legal entities or other independent legal entities authorised under Czechoslovak laws to conduct foreign trade.
The Parties, while aware of the importance of cooperation for economic relations between the two countries in the future, declare their interest in promoting and facilitating cooperation between organisations and companies of the two countries on the industrial, scientific and technical sectors and create stable and favourable conditions for such activities.
The Joint Commission will be set up to examine the development of trade, to look for means and ways to promote economic relations and to remove potential obstacles that could arise in Czechoslovak-Norway trade relations. In this context, the Joint Commission may take appropriate measures and make proposals.
The Joint Committee shall meet at least once a year and at the request of one of the Contracting Parties at any time within 2 months after such an application has been submitted. The meetings will take place alternately in Norway and Czechoslovakia.
This Agreement replaces the Trade Agreement between the Czechoslovak Socialist Republic and the Kingdom of Norway of 8 June 1966 and enters into force on 1 January 1969.
The validity of this Agreement shall be extended automatically for a period of one year, unless it is given notice by one of the Contracting Parties before 30 September 1973 and thereafter by a further period of one year, unless it is given notice three months before the end of any period.
