on the Agreement between the Government of the Czechoslovak Socialist Republic and the Government of the People's Republic of Poland on cooperation in the field of tourism
On 16 June 1986, the Agreement between the Government of the Czechoslovak Socialist Republic and the Government of the People's Republic of Poland on cooperation in the field of tourism was signed in Warsaw. The Agreement entered into force on 15 September 1986 pursuant to Article 13 thereof.
The Czech version of the Agreement is hereby published at the same time.

AGREEMENT
between the Government of the Czechoslovak Socialist Republic and the Government of the Polish People's Republic on cooperation in the field of tourism
the Government of the Czechoslovak Socialist Republic and the Government of the People's Republic of Poland (hereinafter referred to as the "Contracting Parties'),
- in accordance with the Treaty on Friendship, Cooperation and Mutual Assistance between the Czechoslovak Socialist Republic and the People's Republic of Poland, signed in Warsaw on 1 March 1967,
- aware of the importance of tourism to deepen the friendship of the people of both countries,
- in order to create the best possible conditions for the citizens of both countries for tourist journeys contributing to improving mutual recognition of the lives of the people of both countries, their history and the results achieved in the building of socialism,
they have agreed as follows:
The Parties shall cooperate in the field of tourism on the basis of equality and mutual benefits and shall promote the harmonious development of tourism between the two countries.
The Parties shall pay particular attention to the development of:
- organised tourism of working plants and other socialist organisations,
- travel on the basis of cooperative contacts between regions, cities, establishments and other socialist organisations,
- tourism for children and youth,
- thematic expert tours including trips to congresses, symposia, fairs, etc.,
- tours for sports and cultural events,
and other tours organised by travel agencies.
The authorities of both States active in the field of organised tourism will endeavour to:
- innovation of tourist programmes with a view to improving the offer of tours with thematic content,
- enrichment of tourist tours with social educational features,
- increasing the level and quality of services.
The Parties shall promote the development of direct contacts and cooperation between the authorities of both States in the field of tourism, passport, foreign exchange and customs control, as well as transport.
The authorities of both States in the area of passport, foreign exchange and customs control will inform each other in due time of the rules binding on tourists arriving in their countries and their changes.
The authorities of both states in the field of transport will make efforts to improve road, rail and air transport between the two States and to facilitate the transit of the citizens of the other State when travelling to a third country. Specific means of transport will be agreed in due time by the competent authorities of both States.
The Parties shall facilitate the exchange of experience in the various areas of tourism, including the exchange of workers from central and other authorities of tourism, scientists, travel agents, hotels and restaurants, as well as from other tourism related areas.
The conditions for the exchange of tourism experts shall be governed by agreements negotiated between the competent authorities and the organisations of the States of the Contracting Parties.
In order to enhance the knowledge of the country of the other Party, both Parties will promote the exchange of information and promotion material on tourism, the publication of information materials and the broadcasting of mass media programmes, the exchange of journalists, the organisation of film screening, tourism exhibitions and other forms of information and promotion activities.
The Parties shall promote and facilitate the activities of the representation of tourism authorities of the other State in their territory.
The Parties shall assist and exchange information on matters relating to multilateral forms of international cooperation in the field of tourism, including activities and membership of international tourism organisations.
The Parties will create the necessary economic conditions for the development of mutual tourism.
The payments for mutual tourism shall be made in accordance with the contractual arrangements applicable between the two Contracting Parties and in a manner agreed between the financial authorities of the two Contracting Parties.
The Contracting Parties shall facilitate the expansion of trips of tourists from third countries to CSSR or PLR by means of travel agencies and shall promote their cooperation in the recruitment of those tourists.
The competent authorities of the Contracting Parties shall conclude protocols for the implementation of this Agreement; whenever they consider it necessary, they shall evaluate its implementation and the course of mutual tourism.
This Agreement shall be subject to approval in accordance with the laws of each Contracting Party and shall enter into force on the date of the exchange of notes confirming its approval.
The conclusion of this Agreement does not invalidate the Convention between the Czechoslovak Republic and the People's Republic of Poland on border traffic of 4 July 1959 and the Agreement between the Government of the Czechoslovak Socialist Republic and the Government of the Polish People's Republic on the facilitation of the travel of citizens of both states of 20 July 1977.
This Agreement shall be concluded for a period of five years and shall be automatically extended for another five years, unless it is denounced in writing by one of the Contracting Parties, not later than six months before the expiry of the relevant period.
Done at Warsaw on 16 June 1986 in two original copies, each in the Czech and Polish languages, each of which shall be equally authentic.
