on the Protocol between the Government of the Czechoslovak Socialist Republic and the Government of the Republic of India on the equivalence of certificates, degrees and diplomas awarded at secondary schools, universities and other educational and scientific organisations and institutions in the Czechoslovak Socialist Republic and in the Republic of India
On 17 October 1975, a Protocol was signed in New Delhi between the Government of the Czechoslovak Socialist Republic and the Government of the Republic of India on the equivalence of certificates, degrees and diplomas awarded at secondary schools, universities and other educational and scientific organisations and institutions in the Czechoslovak Socialist Republic and in the Republic of India. The Protocol entered into force pursuant to Article 6 thereof on 4 October 1976.
The Czech translation of the text of the Protocol is announced simultaneously.

PROTOCOL
between the Government of the Czechoslovak Socialist Republic and the Government of the Republic of India on the equivalence of certificates, degrees and diplomas awarded at secondary schools, universities and other educational and scientific organisations and institutions in the Czechoslovak Socialist Republic and in the Republic of India
The Government of the Czechoslovak Socialist Republic and the Government of the Republic of India, wishing to further extend mutually beneficial cooperation in the field of education and science, which contributes significantly to strengthening friendly relations between the peoples of both countries,
Notes that the Cultural Cooperation Agreement, concluded between the two countries on 7 July 1959, represents a positive and useful contribution to these relations,
have reached an agreement on the signing of this Protocol in accordance with Article 4 of the abovementioned Agreement:
The Parties undertake to mutually recognise the equivalence of the certificates, degrees and diplomas of secondary schools, universities and other educational and scientific organisations and institutions in the Czechoslovak Socialist Republic and the Republic of India in the fields of humanities, natural and social sciences, engineering and technology, agriculture and veterinary science.
Certificate of completion of secondary education
The final Certificate of Graduation, issued in the Czechoslovak Socialist Republic after completion of secondary school studies, will be recognised as equivalent to the certificate of completion of a secondary school or a certificate of completion of a pre-university education awarded in the Republic of India, and vice versa.
Titles in the field of humanities, social sciences and natural sciences
a) State diplomas awarded in the Czechoslovak Socialist Republic after completion of the state final examination will be recognised as equivalent to the title "Master" in humanities, social and natural sciences and trade, awarded by universities and other educational institutions in the Republic of India in the relevant field of study, and vice versa.
(b) The title "candidate for science" awarded by universities and other educational and scientific institutions in the Czechoslovak Socialist Republic will be considered equivalent to the title "Ph.D." awarded by universities and higher education institutions in the Republic of India in the relevant fields of study, and vice versa.
c) The title "Doctor of Sciences" awarded by universities and other educational and scientific institutions in the Czechoslovak Socialist Republic will be considered equivalent to the title "Doctor of Letters / Literature / Laws / Science awarded by universities and higher education institutions in the Republic of India in the relevant field of study, and vice versa.
Titles in engineering and engineering, agriculture and veterinary science
a) A state diploma awarded after completion of a state final examination in the Czechoslovak Socialist Republic in the field of engineering and engineering, agriculture and veterinary science will be recognised as equivalent to the title "Bachelor" in engineering and technology, agriculture and veterinary science awarded by universities and higher education institutions in the Republic of India after completion of four to six years of study and vice versa.
(b) The title "candidate of science" in engineering and engineering, agriculture and veterinary science awarded by universities and other educational and scientific institutions in the Czechoslovak Socialist Republic will be considered equivalent to the title "Ph.D." in engineering and engineering, agriculture and veterinary science awarded by universities and higher education institutions in the Republic of India, and vice versa.
c) The title "Doctor of Sciences" awarded by universities and other educational and scientific institutions in the Czechoslovak Socialist Republic will be considered equivalent to the title "Doctor of Science" awarded by universities and higher education institutions in the Republic of India in the relevant fields of study, and vice versa.
The Contracting Parties shall exchange information and consult each other on all matters relating to the implementation of this Protocol.
This Protocol shall be subject to the approval of the Contracting Parties in accordance with their respective national laws and shall enter into force on the date on which the Contracting Parties notify each other of their approval. The Contracting Parties shall exchange approval notes in New Delhi at the shortest possible time.
This Protocol shall remain in force for a period of five years. It shall be deemed to be extended for a further period of five years at any time, unless at any time one or another Contracting Party denies it in writing to the other Party six months in advance.
