The Ministry of Foreign Affairs states that the Agreement between the Government of the Czech Republic and the Austrian Federal Government on the partial amendment of the Agreement between the Government of the Czechoslovak Socialist Republic and the Austrian Federal Government on the abolition of the visa requirement of 18 January 1990, published under No 70 / 1990 Coll.
The Agreement shall enter into force on 1 July 1999.
The Czech translation of the Austrian note and the Czech version of the Czech note are announced simultaneously.

Verbal note
The Austrian Embassy shows respect for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic and has the honour to propose to the Government of the Czech Republic in order to adapt to the amended conditions the conclusion of the Agreement amending the Agreement on the visa waiver of 18 January 1990, as amended by:
Article 1 The Agreement shall read as follows:
"(1) National citizens of the Contracting States holding a valid passport may enter the sovereign territory of the second Contracting State and stay there without a visa for a maximum period of 90 days.
(2) The authorisation referred to in paragraph 1 shall not apply to nationals wishing to enter the sovereign territory of the other Contracting State in order to establish a working relationship, pursue a gainful activity or stay exceeding 90 days.
(3) The Czech national citizens holding a valid travel licence may travel to the Czech Republic without a visa without a visa. Austrian nationals holding a valid EU replacement travel document may travel to the Republic of Austria without a visa without a visa. The duration of the stay shall in both cases be limited to five days. ';
If the Government of the Czech Republic agrees with the above proposal, this note and the relevant note expressing the agreement of the Government of the Czech Republic will form an agreement between the Austrian Federal Government and the Government of the Czech Republic, which will enter into force on the first day of the second month after the exchange.
The Austrian Embassy uses this opportunity to reassure the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic with its deepest respect.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic shows respect for the Embassy of the Republic of Austria and has the honour to confirm receipt of its note No 279-04 / 8-98 of 9 September 1998, which has the following wording:

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has the honour to state that the Government of the Czech Republic has given its assent to the above mentioned wording, so that this note together with the Austrian note constitutes an agreement between the Government of the Czech Republic and the Austrian Federal Government, which will enter into force on the first day of the second month after the exchange of notes.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic uses this opportunity to reassure the Embassy of the Republic of Austria with its deepest respect.
