on the Agreement between the Government of the Czechoslovak Socialist Republic and the Government of the Republic of Iraq on cooperation in the field of health
On 21 April 1982, the Agreement between the Government of the Czechoslovak Socialist Republic and the Government of the Republic of Iraq on cooperation in the field of health was signed in Baghdad. The Agreement entered into force on 13 April 1983 pursuant to Article 8 thereof.
The Czech translation of the Agreement is announced simultaneously.

AGREEMENT
between the Government of the Czechoslovak Socialist Republic and the Government of the Republic of Iraq on cooperation in the field of health
Government of the Czechoslovak Socialist Republic and Government of the Republic of Iraq,
led by the desire to consolidate friendly relations between the two countries and to deepen and expand cooperation in the field of health,
they have agreed as follows:
The Parties shall promote and develop cooperation and exchange of experience on health and medical sciences, so that such cooperation contributes to the constant improvement of the health status of the people of both countries.
The Parties shall support:
(a) exchange of experience on health organisation and management issues, in particular at preventive care centres, hygiene and anti-epidemic services, health education and the use of medical devices, tools and medicines;
(b) exchange of experts on study visits and consultations;
(c) direct cooperation between health care institutions and organisations of both countries;
(d) exchange of plans and materials relating to symposia, conferences and consultations on health organisation and medical science issues. They shall invite representatives of the other Party to participate in scientific symposia and conferences held in their country.
The competent authorities and bodies of both Parties will exchange experience on the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of these diseases in order to combat communicable diseases jointly.
The competent authorities of the Contracting Parties shall exchange lists of medical literature and medical films, visual aids and other health education material.
The Parties shall cooperate on the training and retraining of health workers, in particular by:
(a) promote the exchange of doctors and other health professionals or enable them to receive post-graduate training in a specific field and study certain types of diseases;
(b) exchange teaching tools and teaching experience.
Each Contracting Party shall provide the citizens of the other Contracting Party who are temporarily present in its territory, in the event of an accident, an acute illness or in other urgent cases, with the necessary medical care free of charge.
At the request of the other Party, the Contracting Parties shall allow patients to be admitted to special treatment or spa treatment.
For the purpose of implementing this Agreement, the Parties shall negotiate, for a period of three years, detailed cooperation plans which shall also include financial and organisational conditions for the implementation of this Agreement.
This Agreement shall be subject to approval in accordance with the relevant constitutional provisions of the Contracting Parties and shall enter into force on the date of the exchange of notes on such approval.
This Agreement shall be concluded for a period of five years and shall be extended for a further period of five years each time, until one of the Contracting Parties denies it in writing six months before the expiry of the current period.
