DECLARATION
Minister for Foreign Affairs
of 14 December 1964
concerning the International Convention for the Carriage of Goods by Rail (CIM) and the International Convention for the Carriage of Passengers and Luggage by Rail (CIV)
On 25 February 1961, the following were signed in Bern on behalf of the Czechoslovak Socialist Republic:
(a) the International Convention on the Transport of Goods by Rail (CIM); and
(b) the International Convention on the Carriage of Passengers and Luggage by Rail (CIV);
and the Additional Protocol to both Conventions.
The Government gave its assent to the Conventions and to the Additional Convention on 23 May 1962 and ratified the President of the Republic on 8 February 1963.
The Czechoslovak instrument of ratification to the Conventions and Additional Protocol was deposited with the Swiss Government - the depositary of Documents - on 4 December 1963.
By decision of the diplomatic conference held in Bern on 27-29 April 1964, the said Conventions and Additional Protocol for the Czechoslovak Socialist Republic will enter into force on 1 January 1965.
This date shall also expire:
1. International Convention on the Carriage of Goods by Rail (CIM) of 25 October 1952, established by Regulation No 5 / 1956 Coll.
2. Decree of the Minister for Transport and Communications No. 28 / 1961 Coll., declaring the additional provisions of the International Convention on the Transport of Goods by Rail (CIM), issued to make rail transport more economical by concentrating international transport of goods on economic journeys.
3. Decree of the Minister for Transport and Communications No 137 / 1961 Coll., amending Annex VII (International Regulations on the Transport of Private Carriages of RIP) to the International Convention on the Transport of Goods by Rail (CIM) of 25 October 1952.
4. Regulation No 84 / 1960 of the Minister for Transport and Communications amending the International Convention on the Carriage of Goods by Rail (CIM) of 25 October 1952 and amending the International Convention on the Carriage of Passengers and Luggage by Rail (CIV) of 25 October 1952.
5. International Convention on the Carriage of Passengers and Travel Luggage by Rail (CIV) of 25 October 1952, established by Regulation No 5 / 1956 Coll.
Annex I to the International Convention for the Carriage of Goods by Rail (CIM) shall continue to apply as published in Decree of the Minister for Transport and Communications No. 53 / 1962 Coll.
The Czech translation of the International Convention for the Carriage of Goods by Rail (CIM) and the International Convention for the Carriage of Passengers and Luggage by Rail (CIV) will be published in the Transport and Tariff Bulletin of the Ministry of Transport, in which also the Convention bound area of States will be notified, as well as subsequent amendments.
