Parliament has decided on this law of the Czech Republic:

Amendment of the Higher Education Act

1. in Paragraph 21 (1), the following point (f) is inserted after point (e), including footnote 11a:
"(f) to take appropriate measures for the study of parents, for as long as their maternity or parental leave would otherwise last (11a) (hereinafter referred to as" recognised period of parenthood ");
11a) § 195 to 198 of Act No. 262 / 2006 Coll., Labour Code, as amended. '
Points (f) and (g) shall be renumbered as points (g) and (h).
2. Paragraph 54, including the title, reads:
„§ 54
Discontinuation
(1) The study in the study programme may be interrupted repeatedly under the conditions laid down in the study and examination rules. The study and examination rules shall determine the maximum total period of interruption.
(2) A student has the right to terminate his studies at all times in connection with pregnancy, childbirth or parenthood throughout the recognised period.
(3) The period of suspension for a recognised period of parenthood shall not be counted against the total period of interruption referred to in paragraph 1 or the maximum period of study provided for by internal rules.
(4) At the time of graduation, a person is not a student. The period for which the study has been interrupted gives the person the right to re-enrolment. The university shall determine the conditions under which a person may re-register for study at a recognised time of parenthood before the period for which the study has been suspended expires. '.
3. The following Section 54a is inserted after Section 54, including the title and footnote 15b:
„§ 54a
Specific provisions on the course of studies
In the context of childcare, a student or a student shall be entitled to an extension of the periods of time for the performance of his / her duties, as well as to fulfil the conditions for the procedure until the next semester, year or block resulting in particular from the rules of study and examination, by the time it would otherwise take to draw up maternity leave (15b), provided that he / she does not interrupt the studies at that time.
15b) § 195, 197 and 198 of Act No. 262 / 2006 Coll., Labour Code, as amended. '
4. In Paragraph 58, the sentence "However, the recognised period of parenthood shall first be deducted from the total study period calculated under this paragraph at the end of paragraph 3. '

In Article 14 (2) (c), the dot at the end is replaced by a comma and the following point (d) is added, including footnote 10c:
"(d) the period of suspension at a university for which maternity or parental leave would otherwise last 10c).
