on the school system and teacher education (school law).
The National Assembly of the Czechoslovak Republic decided on the following Act:
§ 1.
Initial provision.
(1) For the socialist society that we are building, our school must raise widely developed and perfectly prepared new socialist citizens - workers, peasants and intelligence.
(2) This mission can only be accomplished by a school linked to the great tasks of socialist building and to the political, economic and cultural development of the country and its defence.
(3) The great mission of the socialist school must be to prepare and educate teachers, the principal factors in school education for young people, which will ensure a high level of ideas and expertise in their teaching work.

School system.
§ 2.
Mother's school.
(1) A nursery school provides pre-school education and health and social protection for children aged three years. Nursing schools are mainly intended for children employed by parents.
(2) Attendance to kindergarten is optional.
Schools in general education.
§ 3.
Basic general education.
(1) Basic general education is compulsory and free of charge.
(2) They are provided by an eight-year high school or the first eight consecutive years of an 11-year high school.
(3) The obligation to attend school lasts for eight years and begins at the beginning of the school year following the day on which the child reaches the sixth year of age.
§ 4.
Types of general education schools.
(1) An eight-year high school provides basic general education and prepares for occupation, vocational school or higher general education.
(2) The 11-year high school gives pupils basic general education in the first eight consecutive years and in the last three consecutive years higher general education and prepares mainly for university studies. These last three consecutive years are selective. They may include pupils who have successfully completed eight-year high school or the first eight consecutive years of eleven-year high school.
(3) Where there are no conditions for the establishment of a secondary school, the first five consecutive years shall be designated as national school. Pupils who have successfully completed the fifth annual national school shall continue to attend school in the sixth year of the nearest secondary school.
(4) The first consecutive year of all types of general education is the preparatory year. His job is to prepare children for continuous school education.
Vocational schools.
§ 5.
(1) Vocational training for the various sectors of the economy, state administration and cultural life is provided by vocational schools to which graduates of eight-year high school or eight-year secondary school may be admitted. Vocational schools are selective.
Schools for youth requiring special care.
§ 6.
(1) For young people with reduced skills, special care schools are set up.
(2) Schools for youth requiring special care also provide youth training for the practical profession as required. In such schools compulsory education may be extended accordingly.

Schools for teacher education.
§ 7.
Childhood schools for the education of kindergarten teachers.
(1) For the education of kindergarten teachers, three-year pedagogical schools are set up, to which eight-year high school graduates or the eighth consecutive year of 11-year high school are admitted.
(2) Graduates of a pedagogical school are engaged in one year of managerial practice in kindergarten.
§ 8.
Education schools for teachers of national schools.
For the education of teachers from the first to the fifth year of secondary school and national school, four-year pedagogical schools are set up, where graduates from eight-year high school or the eighth year of 11-year high school are admitted.
§ 9.
Higher education schools.
For the education of teachers of the sixth to eighth year of secondary school, two-year higher education schools are set up, to which graduates of eleven-year secondary schools are admitted, after the case of pedagogy and selection vocational schools.
§ 10.
University of Education.
For the education of teachers from the ninth to eleventh year of the eleventh year of secondary school and teachers from teaching schools and vocational schools, higher education schools are set up, to which graduates from the eleventh year of secondary school are admitted, after the case of pedagogical schools and selection vocational schools.

Provisions common.
§ 11.
Parents (legal representatives) are required to sign up their child for the enrolment and enrolment of the school and to ensure that they go to school regularly and on time.
§ 12.
Children who cannot be educated for a severe illness or for a mental or physical defect are not required to go to school.
§ 13.
Extraordinary ways to study.
Workers are allowed to complete and acquire in courses or schools for working education at 11-year-olds, professional selection schools or teacher education schools.
§ 14.
Extra-school education facilities.
In addition to school education and in the interest of health and social care for school youth, youth cooperatives, pioneering houses, children's homes and other extracurricular education facilities are established.
§ 15.
The PTA and friends of the school.
(1) A school association of parents and friends is usually set up to ensure cooperation between the school and the family and to assist the school in its educational mission.
(2) The Association of Parents and Friends of the School is a legal person.
§ 16.
Establishment, organisation and administration of schools.
(1) Schools are state schools. They shall be borne by the State.
(2) Unless otherwise provided for in specific regulations, the administration and management of all schools under this Act shall be the responsibility of the Ministry of Education and Education. Higher pedagogical and pedagogical schools are managed by the Ministry of Education and Education according to the guidelines of the Ministry of Higher Education applicable to other higher education institutions.
(3) Maternity schools, general education schools, vocational and pedagogical schools are established according to the state plan for the development of the national economy of the Czech Republic.
(4) Higher education and higher education schools and their faculties are established by regulations.
(5) The Organisational Regulations of Schools, the Schedules and the Schedule and the Examination Regulations are to be issued, unless otherwise provided for in specific regulations, by the Ministry of Education and Education in agreement with the central authorities involved.
(6) The basic directives on the establishment of schools and classes, the organisation of schools and their administration shall be laid down by the Government.
Transitional and final provisions.
§ 17.
The school system and regulation of teacher education under this law are introduced at the beginning of the school year 1953 / 54. The way in which existing schools will be converted into schools under this law will be regulated by a regulation.
§ 18.
All provisions contrary to this law shall be repealed. In particular:
1. Act No. 95 / 1948 Coll., on the Basic Regulation of Single Education (Education Act);
2. Government Decree No. 195 / 1948 Coll., implementing the provisions of the Education Act on Maternity Schools;
3rd Government Decree No. 196 / 1948 Coll., implementing the provisions of the Education Act on National and Secondary Schools;
4th Government Decree No. 197 / 1948 Coll., on Education and Education in Gymnasium;
5. Government Decree No 257 / 1949 Coll., on the establishment and operation of selection and compulsory vocational schools in state and national enterprises;
6. Act No. 100 / 1946 Coll., establishing the Faculty of Education;
7. Government Decree No. 170 / 1946 Coll., which gives the status of teaching faculties and determines the teaching period of teachers.
§ 19.
This Act shall take effect on the day of its publication; It shall be carried out by the Minister for Education and Education and by participating members of the Government.
