THE LAW
Czech National Council
of 17 December 1992
on State Symbols of the Czech Republic
The Czech National Council decided on this law:
National symbols of the Czech Republic are large and small state emblem, state colours, state flag, flag of the President of the Republic, state seal and national anthem.
Large and small State emblem
(1) The large State emblem consists of a quarter shield in which the first and fourth red fields contain a silver double-tail lion in a jump with gold crown and gold armor. In the second blue field there is a silver-red chess eagle with gold crown and gold armor. In the third golden field there is a black eagle with a silver half-moon ending with clover triplets and a cross in the middle, with a gold crown and red armor.
(2) The depiction of a large national character is annexed to 1 of this Act.
(3) A small state emblem is made up of a red shield with a silver double-tail lion in a jump with a gold crown and gold armor.
(4) The depiction of a small national character is an annex to the Act.
State Colors
State colors are white, red, blue in that order.
State flag
(1) The flag of the State consists of the upper stripe of the white and the lower stripe of the red stripe, between which is inserted the blue stripe wedge into half the length of the flag. The flag width to its length is 2: 3.
(2) The image of the State flag is Annex 3 to this Act.
Flag of the President of the Republic
(1) The flag of the President of the Republic is white, with an edge consisting of flames alternately white, red and blue. In the middle of the white field, there's a big state emblem. Below it is a white (silver) inscription PRUVDA WELCOME on red ribbon supported by yellow (gold) lip branches.
(2) The image of the flag of the President of the Republic is given in Annex 4 to this Act.
State Seal
(1) The state seal consists of a large state emblem supported by lipos branches on the sides, around which is a copy of "CZECH REPUBLIC."
(2) The depiction of the state seal is Annex 5 to this Act.
(3) The seal of the State Seal is kept by the President of the Republic.
National anthem
(1) The national anthem consists of the first verse of the songs František Škroup and Josef Kajetán Tyl "Where my home is."
(2) The text and note of the national anthem are set out in Annex 6 to this Act.
This Law shall take effect on 1 January 1993.
