on the Trade Agreement between the Czechoslovak Socialist Republic and the Kingdom of Norway
The Trade Agreement between the Czechoslovak Socialist Republic and the Kingdom of Norway was signed in Prague on 29 November 1973.
Pursuant to Article 8 thereof, the Agreement entered into force on the date of signature with effect from 1 January 1974 to 31 December 1978.
The Czech translation of the Agreement is announced simultaneously.

TRADE AGREEMENT
between the Czechoslovak Socialist Republic and the Kingdom of Norway
The Government of the Czechoslovak Socialist Republic and the Government of the Kingdom of Norway taking into account the favourable conditions for further expansion of commercial and economic relations,
Desiring to support and facilitate the development of trade and economic relations between the two countries on the basis of equality and mutual benefits,
they have agreed as follows:
The exchange of goods between the two countries will take place in accordance with the rules of the General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade and with this Agreement, as well as the annual protocols concluded with this Agreement and forming an integral part thereof.
The Contracting Parties shall take all necessary measures to achieve the widest possible exchange of goods between the two countries.
All payments between the Czechoslovak Socialist Republic and the Kingdom of Norway shall be made in freely convertible currencies in accordance with the foreign exchange rules applicable in each of the two countries.
The exchange of goods between the two countries will be carried out on the basis of contracts concluded on the Czechoslovak side by Czechoslovak foreign trade organisations as separate legal entities or other legal entities authorised under the Czechoslovak laws for foreign trade.
Taking into account the importance of cooperation for future economic relations between the two countries, both Parties declare their interest in supporting and facilitating cooperation between organisations and companies of the two countries in the industrial and scientific and technical fields and to create stable and favourable conditions for them.
A Joint Commission, composed of representatives of both Parties, is hereby established to examine the implementation of this Agreement.
The Joint Commission shall examine the development of trade between the two countries and, on a proposal from either Party, consider the problems that would arise in the implementation of this Agreement or any other issue arising from mutual trade relations.
The Joint Commission shall be empowered to conclude annual protocols to this Agreement and to make proposals or recommendations to the relevant governments aimed at ensuring the continued development of the exchange of goods between the two countries.
The Joint Commission shall meet annually, alternately in the Czechoslovak Socialist Republic and Norway, and shall also meet at the request of one of the Contracting Parties on the date and place agreed each time.
This Agreement repeals the Trade Agreement between the Czechoslovak Socialist Republic and the Kingdom of Norway of 3 December 1968.
This Agreement shall enter into force on the date of signature with effect from 1 January 1974 to 31 December 1978.
This Agreement shall be extended automatically for a period of one year, unless it is given notice by one of the Contracting Parties before 30 September 1978, and thereafter by a further period of one year, unless three months before the end of the relevant period.
