GOVERNMENT REGULATION
Czechoslovak socialist reputation
of 18 January 1990
amending the duration of the basic service
The Government of Czechoslovak Socialist repudiaries orders pursuant to § 27 paragraph 3 and § 75 of the Law No. 92 / 1949 Coll., as amended (full version No. 121 / 1978 Coll.):
Duration of basic service
(a) graduates who have completed their university studies through a state examination, (1) shall be set at 12 months;
(b) graduates who have been included in military training at universities and have completed part of that training by credit shall be set at 11 months;
(c) graduates who have been assigned to military training at universities and have completed such training through final examinations, women who have volunteered to join the army, and soldiers who have taken on a commitment to further service shall be set at 9 months.
The basic service of university graduates who have completed a university abroad and of the Bohemian faculties shall last for 9 months if they have taken up their duties before the entry into force of this Regulation.
(1) Soldiers carrying out a basic service at the date of application of this Regulation; and
(a) are married;
(b) have substantially reduced medical fitness to perform the service; or
(c) where serious social or family reasons so require, they shall be discharged from the basic service if they have completed such service for at least 18 months.
(2) Under the conditions set out in paragraph 1, university graduates shall be dismissed from the basic service [§ 1 (a) and (b)] if they have performed that service for at least 9 months.
(3) Soldiers who joined the basic service in 1988 on the date of application of this Regulation shall be dismissed if they have completed the service for at least 22 months if they are graduates of higher education institutions (Sections 1 (a) and 1 (b))) for at least 11 months. At the same time, military exercises of a total duration of eight weeks are forgiven.
(4) Soldiers who joined the basic service in 1989 on the date of application of this Regulation shall be dismissed if they have completed the service for a period of at least 20 months if they are university graduates [Sections 1 (a) and 1 (b)] of at least 11 months. At the same time, military exercises of four weeks are forgiven.
They shall be deleted:
1. Government Decree No. 121 / 1960 Coll., establishing the duration of the basic service of university graduates in military training at these schools;
2. Government Decree No. 88 / 1964 Coll., adjusting the length of basic service to women who voluntarily join the army;
3rd Decree of the Government of the Czechoslovak Socialist Republic No. 73 / 1970 Coll., on adjusting the length of basic service of graduates of certain military schools and courses.
This Regulation shall enter into force on 29 January 1990.
