on the Agreement on Scientific and Technical Cooperation between the Government of the Czechoslovak Socialist Republic and the Imperial Ethiopian Government and the Agreement on Cultural Cooperation between the Czechoslovak Socialist Republic and the Ethiopian Empire
On 11 December 1959, the Agreement on Scientific and Technical Cooperation between the Government of the Czechoslovak Republic and the Imperial Ethiopian Government and the Agreement on Cultural Cooperation between the Czechoslovak Republic and the Ethiopian Empire were signed in Addis Ababa.
Both Agreements were approved by the Government on 15 January 1960.
Approval of both The agreement of the Government of the Czechoslovak Republic was announced by a note of 22 April 1960 and their approval by the Imperial Ethiopian Government was notified by a note of 11 May 1960.
Article In the Agreement on Scientific and Technical Cooperation between the Government of the Czechoslovak Republic and the Imperial Ethiopian Government and Article 10 of the Agreement on Cultural Cooperation between the Czechoslovak Republic and the Ethiopian Empire, the Agreements entered into force on 11 May 1960.

AGREEMENT
on scientific and technical cooperation between the Government of the Czechoslovak Republic and the Imperial Ethiopian Government
The Government of the Czechoslovak Republic and the Imperial Ethiopian Government, wishing to promote economic development and to extend scientific and technical cooperation between the two countries, agreed as follows:
The Parties undertake to cooperate in the field of science and technology to ensure the effective use of the latest knowledge of science and technology for the economic development of their countries.
Cooperation under Article This Agreement will also consist in providing scientific and technical assistance, particularly in the field of:
1. mining,
2. health care,
3. connections,
4. scientific and technical education,
5. Agriculture and
The 6th Industry.
To implement the objectives of this Agreement, the Government of the Czechoslovak Republic at the request of the Imperial Ethiopian Government:
1. assist the Imperial Ethiopian Government in providing personnel, experts and equipment in the fields referred to in Article II of this Agreement.
2. Provides scholarships and opportunities for training students and interns from the Ethiopian Empire at Czechoslovak schools and industrial plants.
Conditions and scope of cooperation referred to in Article This Agreement will also be agreed in protocols agreed by both Parties for a certain period of time.
This Agreement shall enter into force on the date of the exchange of notes confirming that this Agreement has been approved under the relevant constitutional provisions of the Contracting Parties and shall remain in force for a period of three years. It shall then be extended without further delay for a further period, each for a period of one year, unless one of the Contracting Parties denies it in writing three months before the end of the initial three-year period or any further one-year period.

AGREEMENT
on cultural cooperation between the Czechoslovak Republic and the Ethiopian Empire
The Government of the Czechoslovak Republic and the Government of the Ethiopian Empire, desiring to deepen friendship between the peoples of the two countries and seeking to develop cooperation in the field of science, education and culture, have decided to negotiate this Agreement and have appointed their agents to do this:

Those who exchanged their powers of attorney, whom they found in perfect order and proper form, agreed as follows:
The Parties shall promote the development of cultural contacts between the two countries through the organisation of musical and theatre performances, lectures, art and scientific exhibitions, visits to cultural and artistic groups and the promotion of cooperation between official scientific institutes and artistic associations.
The Parties shall promote the development of cooperation and the exchange of information between scientific, cultural, educational and medical institutions and shall facilitate mutual visits by university professors, teachers of vocational schools and members of those institutions.
The Parties shall allow the provision of scholarships and other advantages through the two relevant ministries managing the education of the members of the other Party to study in their higher arts and vocational schools.
Each Party shall consider the issue of recognition of diplomas and degrees awarded by the other Party; If the Contracting Parties deem it necessary, they shall negotiate a specific agreement to that effect.
The Contracting Parties shall, as far as possible, promote the organisation of sporting competitions between members of their countries.
The Parties shall facilitate the exchange of scientific, cultural and artistic books and publications as well as films.
The Contracting Parties shall ensure that the textbooks prescribed for schools do not contain errors or misinterpretation of the country of the other Contracting Party.
Each Party shall make it possible to issue translations of major scientific, cultural and artistic works by authors of the other Party.
1. Cultural cooperation plans will be drawn up from time to time to implement this Agreement.
2. In order to negotiate such plans, both Parties will appoint representatives to act on their behalf and represent them.
1. This Agreement shall enter into force on the day on which the Contracting Parties confirm in exchange that the Agreement has been approved in accordance with the relevant constitutional provisions of the Contracting Parties.
2. The Agreement shall remain in force for a period of two years from the date of entry into force and shall be extended without further delay at the end of that period by an unspecified number of one-year periods, unless one of the Contracting Parties notifies in writing its intention to terminate the Agreement six months before the end of the initial two-year period or any further one-year period.
Done at Addis Ababa, on 11 December 1959, in duplicate, in the Czech, Amharan and English languages, all three texts being equally authentic except in the case of a different interpretation in which the English text is decisive.
