DECLARATION
Czech National Banks
of 4 May 1993
on the issue of coins of 5 CZK model 1993, on the expiry of coins of 5 CZK and their exchange
Czech National Bank pursuant to § 22 (a) and (d) of the Act of the Czech National Council No. 6 / 1993 Coll., on the Czech National Bank, states:
On 9 June 1993, coins of 5 CZK model 1993 (hereinafter referred to as "the five crowns") are issued for circulation.
(1) The five crowns are rolled from steel, which is galvanically plated with nickel on both sides and on the edge. The weight of the five crown is 4.8 g, 23 mm diameter and 1.85 mm thickness. The edge of the five crown is smooth.
(2) A tolerance of 0,15 g, 0,1 mm in diameter and 0,13 mm in thickness shall be allowed in the case of five-crown embossing. A downward tolerance of 0,5% is allowed in the nickel content during galvanic plating.
(1) The Czech lion is on the face of the five crown as a symbol of Czech statehood. The name of the State "CZECH REPUBLIC" is placed in two rows below the lion. Under the name of the state is the year of the stamping and below it is placed the mark of the mint which struck the five crown.
(2) On the reverse of the five crown, the marked coin value is "5." In the background of the digit is a stylized representation of the Charles Bridge with the level of the Vltava. Above the first bridge arch from the left is a lime leaf and above it, situated from the bottom up, short for money unit "CZK." The lime ticket together with the abbreviation of the money unit symbolically depicts one of the towers of the Charles Bridge. The author of the five crown design is academic sculptor Jiří Harcuba, the initials of his name "H" are at the bottom edge of the coin in the middle.
(1) Coins of 5 Kčs1 shall expire on 30 November 1993.
(2) The coins referred to in paragraph 1 shall be exchanged between 1 December 1993 and 31 March 1994 by the Czech National Bank and the banks.2)
This Decree shall take effect on 1 June 1993.
