on the Agreement between the Government of the Czechoslovak Socialist Republic and the Government of the Republic of Sierra Leone on cultural cooperation
On 11 January 1984, the Agreement between the Government of the Czechoslovak Socialist Republic and the Government of the Republic of Sierra Leone on Cultural Cooperation was signed in Freetown. The Agreement entered into force on 27 September 1985 pursuant to Article 10 thereof.
The Czech version of the Agreement is hereby published at the same time.

AGREEMENT
between the Government of the Czechoslovak Socialist Republic and the Government of the Republic of Sierra Leone on cultural cooperation
Government of the Czechoslovak Socialist Republic and Government of the Republic of Sierra Leone
led by the desire to further improve relations between the two countries and to extend cultural cooperation in the interests of deeper mutual understanding,
have decided to conclude this Agreement and to this end have agreed as follows:
The Parties will develop cooperation in science, education, culture, art, health, press, film, radio, television, physical education and sport within the framework of this Agreement.
The Parties shall promote cooperation and exchange of information and experience between the cultural, educational, health and artistic organisations of their countries. To this end, they shall in particular support:
(a) mutual visits by university professors, teachers and scientists to professional and scientific establishments;
(b) the organisation of exhibitions of cultural and information character;
c) organizing concerts, theatre performances and other performances of artists;
(d) the translation and publication of literary and scientific works and their making available to the relevant organisations and institutions, the exchange of books, journals and other publications of a cultural and scientific nature, as well as of various audiovisual aids;
(e) screening of artistic, scientific and educational films.
The Parties shall promote the participation of their nationals in congresses, conferences, seminars and other expert meetings with international participation organised in the territory of one of the Contracting Parties in the areas referred to in Article 1.
The Contracting Parties shall allow, by granting scholarships and other advantages to nationals of the other Contracting Party, study at their universities and other educational establishments in accordance with their national rules.
The Parties shall facilitate access to their libraries, archives, museums, galleries and other cultural and scientific institutions, in accordance with their national rules, to scientists and cultural workers.
The Parties shall examine the issue of recognition of diplomas and scientific degrees awarded in the other country. If they find it necessary, they shall conclude a specific agreement for this purpose.
The Parties shall promote the cooperation of their radio, television and print organisations.
The Parties shall promote sport competitions and the exchange of athletes, gym experts and sports cooperatives.
In order to implement this Agreement, the Contracting Parties will always negotiate implementation plans for certain periods of time setting out specific cooperation actions, including financial conditions, or agreed by diplomatic channels.
This Agreement shall enter into force on the day on which the Contracting Parties confirm in exchange that the required national conditions for entry into force of the Agreement have been fulfilled.
This Agreement shall apply for a period of five years from the date of its entry into force. It shall then be extended by a further period of one year in silence if one of the Contracting Parties does not denounce it in writing six months before the expiry date.
Done at Freetown on 11 January 1984 in duplicate, each in Czech and English, the two texts being equally authentic.
