THE LAW
of 24 March 1993
concerning the Office of the President of the Republic
Parliament has decided on this law of the Czech Republic:
(1) The Office of the President of the Republic ("the Office") is hereby established.
(2) The Office is an organisational component of the state with a separate chapter in the state budget of the Czech Republic.
(1) The Office provides for the provision of matters connected with
(a) exercising the powers of the President of the Republic laid down in the Constitution of the Czech Republic, constitutional laws and laws;
(b) with the protocol duties and public activities of the President of the Republic and his spouse or partner.
(2) The Office shall pay a flat-rate contribution and a multi-purpose flat-rate refund to the former President of the Republic and shall make the vehicle, with or without the driver, available to the extent and under the conditions laid down in special legislation.1)
(3) The Office also provides for the provision of items related to the preparation of the elected President of the Republic for the performance of the Office and his related public activities from his election to the composition of the promise.
(1) The Office exercises the right of management of the real estate of the Czech Republic forming the premises of the Prague Castle, the Lány Castle and the other real estate forming one functional unit with them and treating them as the seat of the President of the Republic; perform also the right of management of movable property related to such immovable property historically or functionally or related to the Office's activities. The provisions of this paragraph shall be without prejudice to specific laws governing the arrangements for ownership. (1a)
(2) The Office may set up contribution organisations to carry out the tasks referred to in paragraph 1. (2)
(1) The Head of the Office is the Head of the Office, appointed and dismissed by the President of the Republic.
(2) The President shall determine the internal organisation of the Office and the heading of the management staff appointed and withdrawn.
(3) The salary and remuneration of staff on call of the Office is governed by special legislation2a) and by the Office's Regulations.
(4) The Office's pay schedule is issued by the Head of the Office after the President's approval.
The military office of the President of the Republic is the military service of the armed forces of the Czech Republic. The tasks of the Military Office of the President of the Republic, the appointment and dismissal of the Chief of the Military Office of the President of the Republic and its powers are governed by specific legislation.3)
(1) Rights and obligations from employment and other relations of the Office of the President of the Czech Republic are transferred to the Office on the date of entry into force of this Act.
(2) Contributory organisations set up by the Office of the President of the Czech Republic pursuant to Article III (2) of the Act of the Czech National Council No. 548 / 1992 Coll. are considered as contribution organisations set up by the Office pursuant to this Act.
They shall be deleted:
1st Act No. 135 / 1991 Coll., on the Office of the President of the Czech and Slovak Federal Republic,
2. Article III of the ČNR Act No. 548 / 1992 Coll., on certain other measures in the system of central government bodies of the Czech Republic and on the establishment of the Office of the President of the Czech Republic.
This Act shall take effect on the day of its publication.
