Government Regulation
of 27 November 1953
on changes in the organisation of universities.
The Government of the Czechoslovak Republic orders pursuant to § 3 and § 7 (3) of Act No. 58 / 1950 Coll., on Higher Education, and under § 16 (4) of Act No. 31 / 1953 Coll., on the School System and Teacher Education (Education Act):
(1) A University of Engineering in Liberec is established.
(2) The head of this university is the Rector and the Board of Higher Education.
At the Czech Technical University in Prague, the Faculty of weak current electrical engineering is established with its headquarters in Poděbrady.
The Faculty of Geological Science is established at the University of Mining in Ostrava.
From the geometrical department of the Faculty of Engineering of the Czech Technical University in Prague, the Faculty of Geometry is established.
A military faculty is established at the University of Railway in Prague.
The head of the University of Engineering and Electrical Engineering in Pilsen is the Rector and Board of Higher Education. The Dean's Office (Dean) of this university is converted into the Rector's Office (Rector's Office).
(1) The name of the chemical university in Prague is changed and reads: "Chemistry University in Prague."
(2) The name of the chemical college in Pardubice is changed and read: "the chemical-technological college in Pardubice." The head of this university is the Rector and the Board of Higher Education. Its Dean's Office (Dean's Office) is converted into Rector's Office (Rector's Office).
(1) From the Charles University of Medicine in Prague, the Faculty of General Medicine, the Faculty of Children's Medicine and the Faculty of Health are established.
(2) The branch of the Charles University Medical Faculty in Prague, established in Pilsen, is transformed into a branch of the Faculty of General Medicine of this University based in Pilsen.
(1) The Faculty of International Relations, established at the University of Political and Economic Sciences in Prague, is incorporated into Charles University in Prague.
(2) Paragraph 6 (2) of Decree No. 40 / 1952 Coll., concerning further changes in the organisation of universities, is hereby repealed.
The title of the Faculty of Internal Trade of the University of Economics in Prague is changed and reads: "Faculty of Internal and Foreign Trade."
The name of the Russian language university in Prague changes and reads: "Russian language and literature university in Prague."
The Palacký University Faculty of Philosophy in Olomouc is gradually abolished in the school year 1953 / 54.
University of Economics in Bratislava is divided into Faculty of General Economics, Faculty of Production and Faculty of Internal Trade and Finance.
A higher education school in Opava is established.
This Regulation shall enter into force on 1 September 1953; they shall be carried out by the Minister for Education in agreement with participating members of the Government.
