According to § 7 (1) (g), (h) and (ch) and § 9 of Act No. 35 / 1962 Coll., on the measure service:
Determination of measuring instruments
(1) The Office for Standardisation and Measurement (hereinafter referred to as "the Office"), when establishing selected operational meters subject to mandatory verification, is based on the needs of the national economy as well as international cooperation and will discuss the inclusion of the meters in this category with the central authorities involved. At the same time, they shall determine the period of validity of the verification of these meters. The new official verification shall not be subject to those selected operational meters which, after being put into service, are used for measurements in internal operational contact in the organisation, i.e. for non-commercial purposes and in technological processes as an operational gauge; However, this restriction shall not apply to measuring instruments placed in commercial or auxiliary business rooms or where the importance of measurement requires official verification.
(2) When determining the main business ethalons subject to mandatory official verification, the Authority is based on the needs of the national economy and will discuss the inclusion of the measuring instruments in this category with the central authorities involved. At the same time, they shall determine the period of validity of the verification of these meters. For fields of measurement relevant to the quality of production where the main business ethalons are not so defined, the competent central authority may determine them in agreement with the Office.
(3) All gauges affecting the quantity and quality of production, the management and protection of the technological process, the protection of health and safety and the environment, unless they are already defined as selected operational meters or are classified as main or functional etalons, shall be considered as operating meters.
(4) Other measuring instruments, in particular used only to observe changes in physical quantities without determining their values, shall be considered as informative measuring instruments.
Announcement of specified meters
(1) Selected operating meters and main business ethalons, including the validity of their verification, are announced by the Office in the Bulletin of the Office for Standardisation and Measurement.
(2) The Office also announces in the Bulletin of the Office for Standardisation and Measurement the approved state ethalons.
Transitional and final provisions
The newly set deadlines for the official verification of selected operational meters and main business etalons shall start only from the first verification of the meter carried out within the current period for the effectiveness of this decree.
The Order of the Office for Standardisation and Measurement No. 59 / 1979 Coll., setting out the selected operational meters, main business etalons and operational meters (Decree on specified meters) *) is hereby repealed.
This Decree shall take effect on 1 January 1989.

*) Selected operating meters and main business ethalons referred to in the Ordinance of the Office for Standardisation and Measurement No. 61 / 1963 Coll., on ensuring the accuracy of measuring instruments and measurements, as amended by Decree No. 102 / 1967 Coll., as referred to in Annexes I and II, shall be understood as measuring instruments declared by the Office pursuant to Article 2 (1) of that Decree; the measuring instruments referred to as measuring instruments listed in Annex III are those corresponding to Section 1 (3) of this Decree.
