on the Agreement between the Government of the Czechoslovak Socialist Republic and the Government of the People's Democratic Republic of Yemen on scientific and technical cooperation
On 3 April 1979, the Agreement between the Government of the Czechoslovak Socialist Republic and the Government of the People's Democratic Republic of Yemen on scientific and technical cooperation was signed in Aden. The Agreement entered into force on 17 December 1979 pursuant to Article 12 thereof.
The Czech translation of the text of the Agreement is announced simultaneously.

AGREEMENT
between the Government of the Czechoslovak Socialist Republic and the Government of the People's Democratic Republic of Yemen on scientific and technical cooperation
The Government of the Czechoslovak Socialist Republic and the Government of the People's Democratic Republic of Yemen (hereinafter referred to as the Contracting Parties), wishing to consolidate and develop friendly relations between the two countries and to promote scientific and technical cooperation in order to develop the national economy of the two countries, have agreed as follows:
In order to take account of the mutual benefit and mutual respect of the sovereignty of both countries, the Contracting Parties shall, through their respective organisations, endeavour to develop relations in the field of technology, science, education and health.
The Contracting Parties shall facilitate the exchange and visits of technical researchers, the provision of theoretical and practical training and the employment of experts from the other country in the areas referred to in Article 1 of this Agreement, while respecting the applicable provisions and possibilities of both countries.
Both Parties shall allow the participation of interested experts of the other Party in congresses, symposia, scientific conferences, seminars etc. organised by their countries.
The Parties shall promote the exchange of written information and material containing results in the various areas referred to in Article 1 of this Agreement.
Each Contracting Party undertakes to provide, in accordance with the laws in force in its country, all necessary assistance to nationals of the other Contracting Party residing in its territory in connection with the successful execution of tasks under this Agreement.
Each Contracting Party shall do everything to ensure that experts of the other Contracting Party who perform their tasks under this Agreement in the territory of the other Contracting Party enjoy the same benefits as those accorded to experts of any third country.
The scope and conditions of scientific and technical cooperation, including the level and manner of remuneration, will be agreed between Polytechna from the Czechoslovak Party and the Ministry of Planning from the Yemeni Party. An implementation programme shall be drawn up for this objective every two years.
All persons carrying out their duties in the territory of the other Contracting Party under this Agreement shall comply in their activities with the conditions laid down for the performance of their duties and shall refrain from any interference with other matters.
Each Contracting Party undertakes not to disclose to a third party any specific knowledge acquired in connection with the implementation of this Agreement without the prior consent of the other Contracting Party.
The provisions of this Agreement shall not apply to experts, technicians, officials and other persons performing their duties in the territory of one of the Contracting Parties under individual contracts for the supply of goods or services associated with such supplies of goods.
The Parties shall consult each other on all matters relating to the implementation of this Agreement at their express request.
This Agreement shall enter into force on the date of the exchange of notes confirming that it has been approved by the competent authorities of the Contracting Parties.
This Agreement shall apply for a period of five years and shall then be automatically extended by one additional year unless one of the Contracting Parties notifies the other Contracting Party three months in advance that it wishes to terminate the Agreement.
In the event of the termination of this Agreement, the Contracting Parties shall agree before the expiry of this Agreement on the manner in which the projects started under this Agreement are terminated.
This Agreement was drawn up in two original copies in English.
