amending and supplementing Act No. 54 / 1963 Coll., on the Czechoslovak Academy of Sciences, as amended by the legal measure of the Bureau of the Federal Assembly No. 26 / 1970 Coll.
The Federal Assembly of the Czechoslovak Socialist Republic decided on this law:
Act No. 54 / 1963 Coll., on the Czechoslovak Academy of Sciences, as amended by the legal measure of the Bureau of the Federal Assembly No. 26 / 1970 Coll., is amended as follows:
1.
The members of the Academy are appointed by the Government of the Czechoslovak Socialist Republic generally on the basis of an election by the General Assembly of the Academy Members or on the proposal of the Presidium of the Academy. "
2. The second sentence of Paragraph 14 (1) reads: "The President of the Academy is constantly looking after the Academy's tasks; He shall be responsible for the performance of his duties to the Government of the Czechoslovak Socialist Republic. '.
3. Article 14 (3), (4) and (5) reads as follows:
"(3) The members of the Presidium of the Academy are the President of the Academy, the Vice-Presidents of the Academy, other members of the Presidium and the Scientific Secretary of the Academy. The Vice-Presidents of the Academy and other members of the Presidium of the Academy are appointed from among the members of the Academy. The Vice-Presidents of the Academy and the Scientific Secretary of the Academy are appointed and recalled by the Government of the Czechoslovak Socialist Republic on a proposal from the Academy President. Other members of the Presidium of the Academy are appointed and dismissed by the Government of the Czechoslovak Socialist Republic, generally on the basis of an election by the General Assembly of the Academy Members or on the proposal of the Presidium of the Academy.
(4) The number of Vice-Presidents of the Academy, as well as the number of other members of the Presidium of the Academy, is determined by the Government of the Czechoslovak Socialist Republic.
(5) The term of office of the Presidium of the Academy lasts for five years. "

(1) The Presidium or the President of the Academy may entrust individual members of the Presidium with the provision of certain activities; In particular, they shall entrust the Vice-Presidents of the Academy with the care of coordination and complexity of work in the various fields of scientific research. The Presidium of the Academy may also set up commissions and other auxiliary bodies on a proposal from the President of the Academy to provide management and organisational activities.
(2) Members of the Presidium of the Academy shall be responsible for and report to the Presidium of the Academy and to the President of the Academy on the activities referred to in paragraph 1 and the chairmen (s) of the commissions and other auxiliary bodies, as appropriate. "
5. The following Section 15a is inserted after Section 15:
(1) The Presidium of the Academy ensures that academics and correspondents participate creatively in the development of their scientific field, scientific research and the realisation of results in their scientific field and contribute to the development of socialist science and socialist society.
(2) The Presidium of the Academy assesses the activities of academics and correspondents regularly, but at least in five years.
(3) On the basis of the evaluation referred to in paragraph 2, the Presidium of the Academy may submit proposals to the Government of the Czechoslovak Socialist Republic for the withdrawal of the membership of an academic or a member of a correspondent if it fails to perform the tasks referred to in paragraph 1 and in Paragraph 11 (1). "
6. Article 16 (2) reads as follows:
"(2) The President and the other members of the Scientific College shall, on a proposal from the President of the Academy, appoint and withdraw the Presidium of the Academy which shall direct their activities. The President of the College shall be responsible for the performance of his duties as Presidium and the President of the Academy. ';
7. Paragraph 18 reads:
The Academy's tasks in the field of administrative, economic and organisational activities are provided by the Academy apparatus. The Presidium of the Academy will determine how the Academy apparatus is managed. '
8. Article 19 (2) reads as follows:
"(2) Head of the Institute is the Director (Head), who, on a proposal from the President of the Academy, appoints and removes the Presidium of the Academy. The Director (Head) shall direct all work of the Institute and shall be responsible for it to the Presidium and to the President of the Academy. ';
9. In Article 20 (4), the words "for 4 years' are replaced by the words" for 5 years'.
10. In Section 21, the words "as well as the Academy apparatus' shall be inserted after the words" organisational services'.
11. the following Section 21a is inserted after Section 21:
The term of office of the former Presidium of the Academy shall end on the date of entry into force of this Act. '
This Act shall take effect on the day of its publication.
