on the Agreement between the Government of the Czechoslovak Socialist Republic and the Government of the Democratic Republic of Somalia on scientific and technological cooperation
The Agreement between the Government of the Czechoslovak Socialist Republic and the Government of the Democratic Republic of Somalia on scientific and technological cooperation was signed in Mogadishu on 31 October 1976. The Agreement entered into force pursuant to Article 10 thereof on 20 June 1977.
The Czech translation of the text of the Agreement is announced simultaneously.

AGREEMENT
between the Government of the Czechoslovak Socialist Republic and the Government of the Democratic Republic of Somalia on scientific and technological cooperation
The Government of the Czechoslovak Socialist Republic and the Government of the Democratic Republic of Somalia, led by the desire to promote the further development of mutual scientific and technological cooperation in order to strengthen friendly relations and strengthen economic relations between the two countries,
they have agreed as follows:
The Parties shall cooperate in the field of science and technology with a view to making the most effective use of the latest knowledge of science and technology for both countries' economic development.
The cooperation referred to in Article 1 of this Agreement shall include in particular:
1. the provision of expert services for advice and assistance in all matters relating to science and technology;
2. organising theoretical and practical training of nationals of both Contracting Parties.
The scope and conditions of scientific and technical cooperation, including the amount and manner of remuneration, shall be agreed between the relevant Czechoslovak organisations authorised to do so and the eligible Somali organisations.
Each Contracting Party shall, within its territory, provide the national citizens of the other Contracting Party with all available means necessary for the successful performance of their tasks to be carried out under this Agreement.
Both Parties shall do their utmost to ensure that experts of any Contracting Party carrying out obligations under this Agreement in the territory of the other Contracting Party enjoy the same treatment as those accorded to experts of any third country.
All persons carrying out their duties in the territory of the other Contracting Party under this Agreement shall, in their activities, comply with the conditions laid down for the performance of their duties and refrain from any interference with other matters.
Each Contracting Party shall undertake not to disclose to any third party the specific knowledge acquired in the framework of cooperation under this Agreement without the consent of the other Contracting Party.
The provisions of this Agreement shall not apply to experts, technicians, officials and other persons carrying out their duties in the territory of one of the Contracting Parties by contract, the object of which is the supply of goods or services.
The Contracting Parties shall consult each other on all matters relating to the implementation of this Agreement upon express request.
This Agreement shall be negotiated subject to approval and shall enter into force on the date of the exchange of notes confirming that it has been approved under the legislation of each Contracting Party; the Agreement shall be applied on a provisional basis as from the date of its signature.
The agreement shall be valid for five years; its validity shall be automatically extended by one additional year unless one of the Contracting Parties notifies in writing its intention to terminate the Agreement three months before its expiry.
The date of entry into force of this Agreement ceases to be the date of the Agreement for Scientific and Technological Cooperation between the Czechoslovak Socialist Republic and the Democratic Republic of Somalia, signed in Prague on 4 June 1961.
Negotiated in Mogadishu on 31 October 1976, in two original copies in English.
