AGREEMENT
on economic contact between the Czechoslovak Socialist Republic and the Swiss Confederation
The Government of the Czechoslovak Socialist Republic and the Swiss Federal Council, led by a desire to promote and expand economic relations for the benefit of both states, agreed as follows:
Economic relations between the two States will be carried out in accordance with the provisions of the General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade (GATT), the Contracting Party of which Czechoslovakia has been a Contracting Party since its establishment and to which Switzerland has acceded under the Protocol of 1 April 1966, as well as any further arrangements between the two States within the GATT.
Moreover, the trade agreement between the Czechoslovak Republic and the Swiss Confederation of 24 November 1953 remains in force.
The Parties shall endeavour to further develop the exchange of goods between the two States on the basis of the rules in force in Czechoslovakia and Switzerland.
In doing so, account shall be taken, where possible, of the seasonal nature of the goods and of the export and import structures of the two States.
Both governments express their interest in developing cooperation in the fields of economy, industry and technology as well as services. In this respect, they will support the efforts of both countries' businesses and organisations.
The products and services resulting from this cooperation will be subject to the most favourable treatment in the general rules in both States.
Both governments shall take all measures necessary to ensure the protection of industrial property and copyright of legal entities of the other State. This shall also apply to the protection of the designation of origin.
Salaries between Czechoslovakia and Switzerland shall be made in accordance with the Protocol annexed to this Agreement.
A Joint Commission will be created from representatives of both governments.
The Joint Commission shall supervise compliance with this Agreement and facilitate its implementation. It also deals, in particular, with proposals and measures aimed at extending the exchange of goods, improving economic relations and eliminating potential difficulties.
It shall meet at the request of either Party.
This Agreement shall apply to the Principality of Liechtenstein if it is in partnership with the Swiss Confederation within the framework of the Customs Union.
The Agreement on Trade Relations and Salary Adjustment between the Czechoslovak Republic and the Swiss Confederation of 22 December 1949, including the relevant Protocols and Letters, is hereby repealed.
The two Governments shall, by diplomatic means, exchange the notification documents with each other on the fulfilment of the conditions necessary for the conclusion and entry into force of this Agreement. The Agreement will then enter into force on 1 July 1971. If one of these notifications is made after 20 June 1971, the Agreement shall enter into force 10 days after receipt of the notification.
This Agreement shall apply until 31 December 1975. It shall remain in force for the next year unless one of the Contracting Parties denies it in writing at least three months before the end of the annual period.
This Agreement has been signed by the delegates to prove it.

PROTOCOL ON PAYMENT
to the Economic Relations Agreement between the Czechoslovak Socialist Republic and the Swiss Confederation
Taking into account that the Agreement on Trade Relations and the Salary Adjustment between the Czechoslovak Republic and the Swiss Confederation of 22 December 1949 is hereby repealed by the Agreement on Economic Relations between the Czechoslovak Socialist Republic and the Swiss Confederation, signed today, and that, as a result, reciprocal payments will be made in Swiss francs or in other freely convertible currencies, the two governments declare that salaries of any kind will in no way be subject to a more adverse adjustment than the one applied in the cancellation of the tied payment.
The same applies mutatis mutandis to the possibility of dealing with property values of any kind.
The accounts opened under the Agreement of 22 December 1949 are cancelled and the balance is made available to the Czechoslovak Commercial Bank a. s. under an arrangement to be negotiated between it and Schweizerische Verrechnungsstelle.
