concerning the Cultural Cooperation Agreement between the Czechoslovak Socialist Republic and the Republic of Cuba
On 22 December 1960, the Agreement on Cultural Cooperation between the Czechoslovak Socialist Republic and the Republic of Cuba was signed in Havana.
The Government of the Czechoslovak Socialist Republic approved the Agreement on 5 April 1961. The approval of the Agreement by the Government of the Republic of Cuba was communicated by a note of 13 March 1961 and its approval by the Government of the Czechoslovak Socialist Republic by a note of 3 May 1961.
Pursuant to Article XI thereof, the Agreement entered into force on 3 May 1961.
The Czech version of the Agreement is hereby published at the same time.

AGREEMENT
on cultural cooperation
between
Czechoslovak Socialist Republic and the Republic of Cuba
Government of the Czechoslovak Socialist Republic and Government of the Republic of Cuba
Expressing the feelings of the peoples of both countries and wishing to further expand and strengthen contacts between the two countries based on mutual friendship and understanding by developing cooperation in the fields of culture, education, science and art
agree as follows:
The Parties shall promote cultural contacts between the two countries and contribute to the mutual recognition of the cultural wealth of the peoples of the two countries and the progress made in the fields of culture, education, science and art.
The Parties shall promote cooperation and exchange of experience between cultural, educational, scientific, artistic and literary institutions and organisations as well as social organisations of both countries.
The Parties shall promote the mutual transmission of scientists, technicians, professors and students.
The Parties shall grant scholarships to nationals of the other country for the purposes of study, specialisation and scientific research.
The Parties shall promote mutual broadcasting of artists, art groups and athletes.
The Parties will support the presentation of musical, theatre and film works, the organisation of lectures and exhibitions and the publication of translations of the second country's scientific and artistic literature.
The Parties shall promote the teaching of languages, history and geography of the other country and the dissemination of knowledge about the other country in schools and information facilities and shall include relevant data in official textbooks. Each Party shall ensure that textbooks do not contain incorrect information about the other country.
The Parties will facilitate the exchange of artistic, scientific and educational publications, films, music records, music material and works of the other country.
The Parties shall promote mutual cooperation in the fields of radio, television, film and print.
Both Parties shall endeavour to facilitate the mutual recognition of degrees, diplomas and certificates issued by universities and other educational bodies.
The Contracting Parties shall, for the purposes of implementing this Agreement, negotiate annually a cooperation plan in the fields of culture, education, science and art, to be negotiated alternately in Havana and Prague between the competent authorities and the diplomatic representative of the Contracting Parties, unless otherwise provided in each case.
This Agreement shall be subject to approval in accordance with the relevant constitutional provisions of the Contracting Parties and shall enter into force on the date of the exchange of diplomatic notes notifying such approval.
This Agreement shall expire one year after one of the Contracting Parties has notified the other Contracting Party in writing of its intention to terminate the Agreement.
In order to prove the signature, the agents duly empowered by their governments signed this Agreement and secured it with their seals.
In Havana, on the twenty-second day of December, twenty-nine hundred and sixty in two original copies in Czech and Spanish, both texts being equally authentic.
