on the Agreement between the Government of the Czechoslovak Socialist Republic and the Government of the Republic of India on cooperation in the use of nuclear energy for peaceful purposes
On 9 November 1966, the Agreement between the Government of the Czechoslovak Socialist Republic and the Government of the Republic of India on cooperation in the use of nuclear energy for peaceful purposes was signed in New Delhi.
Pursuant to Article VII thereof, the Agreement entered into force on 1 January 1967.
The Czech translation of the Agreement is announced simultaneously.

AGREEMENT
between the Government of the Czechoslovak Socialist Republic and the Government of the Republic of India on cooperation in the use of nuclear energy for peaceful purposes
The Government of the Czechoslovak Socialist Republic and the Government of the Republic of India, being aware of the great importance of the use of nuclear energy for peaceful purposes and wishing to further develop friendly relations between the two states also by deepening cooperation in this area, have agreed on the following provisions:
The Parties shall cooperate in the field of research and the use of nuclear energy for peaceful purposes. The competent authorities, organisations and bodies of the Contracting Parties shall cooperate to this end on the following issues:
1. the use of radioactive isotopes in science, medicine, agriculture and various industries;
2. Technique, physics of the operation of experimental atomic reactors;
3. nuclear physics of low and high energies and problems of theoretical physics;
4. radiation chemistry;
5. radio protection in nuclear installations;
6. nuclear equipment;
7. Other issues on which the competent authorities of the Contracting Parties may agree at any time.
In order to carry out the cooperation referred to in Article 1, the competent authorities of the Contracting Parties shall implement, support and facilitate:
1. the establishment of written and personal contacts between representatives of the scientific and technical institutes of both countries;
2. the mutual posting of scientists and experts with a view to exchanging experience, enhancing qualifications and addressing joint tasks;
3. participation of experts from one country in conferences, congresses, symposia, seminars and other events organised by the other (except for international and regional events where problems with the active participation of both parties are addressed);
4. exchange of scientific and technical publications;
5. exchange of technical documentation, samples of nuclear equipment and equipment and materials, as appropriate by the Contracting Parties;
6. exchange of teaching programmes, textbooks and experience in the field of the preparation and teaching of experts;
7th exchange of scholarships.
Article II shall not apply to information, documentation or equipment of a secret nature or that cannot be provided by the Contracting Parties on the grounds that they have been obtained from a third State or have resulted from cooperation with a third State.
The Contracting Parties undertake to observe, at the request of the other Party, the principles necessary for the confidentiality of the information and documentation obtained. Information and knowledge obtained under this Agreement from one of the Contracting Parties shall not be published or made available to a third State without its consent.
This Agreement will be implemented on the basis of specific cooperation plans always agreed for a certain period of time between the Czechoslovak Atomic Energy Commission and the Atomic Energy Commission of India.
Representatives of the Czechoslovak Atomic Energy Commission and representatives of the Indian Atomic Energy Commission will meet every three years to negotiate the cooperation plans referred to in Article V of this Agreement and to evaluate the progress and results of the cooperation during the previous period. The report on this evaluation will be submitted to the governments of both countries.
This Agreement shall enter into force on a mutually agreed date and the duration shall be set at five years. If one of the Contracting Parties does not terminate this Agreement in writing three months before the end of the five-year period, the Agreement shall remain in force and may be terminated at any time by one of the Contracting Parties. It shall expire three months after the other Contracting Party has received a written notice of termination.
