Government Regulation
of 2 October 1951
on organisational changes in universities.
The Government of the Czechoslovak Republic orders pursuant to § 3 of Act No. 58 / 1950 Coll., on Higher Education:
(1) The Engineering University in Ostrava is merged with the Mining School in Ostrava in the Mining University in Ostrava.
(2) This university is divided into mining, metallurgical and mining engineering faculties.
(1) A university of construction in Brno is established.
(2) This university is divided into the Faculty of Engineering and the Faculty of Architecture and Ground Construction.
The Faculty of Philosophy of Charles University in Prague is divided into the Faculty of Philosophy and History and the Faculty of Philosophy.
(1) The name of the agricultural university in Brno is changed and reads: "Agricultural and forestry university in Brno."
(2) The title of the University of Agricultural and Forestry Engineering in Košice is amended and read: "College of Agricultural and Forestry in Košice."
(3) These universities are divided into agricultural and forestry schools.
The name of the Slovak University of Business in Bratislava changes and reads: "University of Economic Sciences in Bratislava."
(1) Czech Technical University in Prague is divided into the following faculties:
civil engineering,
architecture and construction,
mechanical,
electrical,
Chemical,
agricultural and forestry,
special teaching; and
economic sciences.
(2) The Slovak Technical University in Bratislava is divided into the following faculties:
civil engineering,
architecture and construction,
mechanical,
electrical,
Chemical; and
Bshould.
(3) The Academy of Musical Arts in Prague is divided into the following faculties:
musical,
theatrical and
film.
(4) Janáček's Academy of Musical Arts in Brno and the University of Musical Arts in Bratislava are divided into the Faculty of Music and the Faculty of Theatre.
The Minister of Education, Science and Arts, in agreement with the participating members of the Government, provides for the specialisation of the study in order to educate the types of experts required for the economic, political and cultural construction of the state.
The University of Technology Dr. Edvard Beneš in Brno and the branch of Charles University Medical Faculty in Prague, established in Hradec Kralove, is hereby cancelled.
Measures taken in conformity with the provisions of this Regulation before its entry into force shall be deemed to have been taken under this Regulation as from the date of such measures.
This Regulation shall enter into force on the day of its publication; They shall be carried out by the Minister for Education, Science and Art in agreement with the participating members of the Government.
