The National Assembly of the Czechoslovak Republic decided on the following Act:
Čl. I
Act No. 194 / 1949 Coll., on the Acquisition and Loss of Czechoslovak Citizenship, is amended as follows:
1. Paragraph 1 (2) reads as follows:
"(2) A child born abroad becomes a citizen if both his father and mother are citizens; a child who is born abroad and whose father or mother is a citizen, while the other parent is a foreigner, shall become a citizen, if the Executive Authority of the District National Committee so agrees, at the request of the parent who is a citizen. A request for consent may be submitted within one year of birth. '
Article 2 (1) reads as follows:
"(1) Foreign citizenship shall be acquired by marriage to a citizen, if the managing authority of the District National Committee, upon request, gives its consent. A request for consent may be submitted before and no later than six months after the marriage. Although consent was granted after marriage, the applicant is looked upon as if she had acquired citizenship on the day of marriage."
3. Article 3 (1) and (2) reads as follows:
"(1) Citizenship may be granted at the request of persons who live in the territory of the Czechoslovak Republic for at least five years at all times and who, if they are not homeless, lose their nationality.
(2) Citizenship is granted by the Ministry of the Interior; in cases of special consideration, it may grant citizenship to an applicant who does not fulfil the conditions laid down in paragraph 1. ';
4. Article 5 shall be deleted;
5. Article 7 (2) reads as follows:
"(2) The Ministry of the Interior may also remove citizenship from a person who has another nationality or who stays abroad for a continuous period of five years without a valid Czechoslovak document entitling himself to stay abroad. '

„§ 8
Family members
(1) A Czechoslovak citizen does not cease to marry a stranger or a homeless citizen.
(2) The need for citizenship with one spouse shall not affect the citizenship of the other spouse or children, unless otherwise provided for in this law. '
Čl. II
Women who have entered into marriage with a stranger before the date of application of this law may apply for nationality no later than six months after the conclusion of the marriage. Such requests and other pending requests for the retention of Czechoslovak citizenship will be dealt with in accordance with Section 5 of Act No. 194 / 1949 Coll. with the effects set out therein.
Čl. III
(1) Persons of Hungarian nationality who have lost Czechoslovak citizenship pursuant to Decree No. 33 / 1945 Coll. and are residing in the territory of the Czechoslovak Republic on the day on which this Act becomes effective, become Czechoslovak nationals if they have not acquired Czechoslovak citizenship before and are not members of another state.
(2) At the same time, Czechoslovak nationals shall become spouses and minor children of the persons referred to in paragraph 1, unless they have already become such persons under that paragraph, if they reside in the territory of the Czechoslovak Republic and are not members of another State.
Čl. IV
The Minister of the Interior is hereby authorised to declare in the Collection of Laws the full text of the Act on the Acquisition and Abandonment of Czechoslovak Citizenship, as is apparent from the later legislation.
Čl. V
This Act shall take effect on the day of its publication; to be carried out by the Minister for the Interior.
