Slovak National Council
of 10 June 1969
on the national holiday of the Slovak Socialist Republic
The faithful legacy of the Slovak National Rebellion, in which the Slovak people, at the cost of immense sacrifices, rose up to fight the fascist invaders and clearly demonstrated their will to live as a free and arbitrary nation in the renewed common state of the Czechs and Slovaks,
The Slovak National Council decided on this law:
The twenty-ninth of August, the anniversary of the Slovak National Uprising, is declared a national holiday of the Slovak Socialist Republic.
The Slovak Socialist Republic's national holiday is a day of work.
This Act shall take effect on the day of its publication.
