about abortion.
The National Assembly of the Czechoslovak Republic decided on the following Act:
Preliminary provisions
In order to further extend care for the healthy development of the family, which is threatened by the damage caused by the artificial interruption of pregnancy to the health and life of women, the treatment of unscrupulous persons and outside medical facilities, this law regulates the artificial interruption of pregnancy.
Conditions for abortion
(1) Pregnancy may be artificially interrupted only with the consent of a pregnant woman and after prior authorisation; If a pregnant woman is completely deprived of her right to exercise her right or is unable to provide her own affairs at all for a mental illness, her consent may be replaced by the consent of her legal representative.
(2) Pregnancy can only be artificially discontinued in a hospital.
(1) At the request of a pregnant woman (her legal representative), the committee set up shall decide on the authorisation of abortion.
(2) Authorisation for abortion may be granted only for health reasons or for other reasons of special consideration.
Final provisions
The Ministry of Health shall, in agreement with the Ministry of Justice, issue the provisions necessary for the implementation of this Act, in particular on the health and other grounds of special consideration (§ 3 (2)), on the organisation of commissions and the management carried out by these commissions (§ 3 (1)).

(2) The sentence imposed by force before the entry into force of this law for the offence of killing a human foetus pursuant to Article 218 (1) of the Act shall not be enforced. If such a sentence has been imposed as a total or supplementary penalty, the provisions of Paragraph 392 of the Penal Code shall apply mutatis mutandis.
(3) The perpetrator convicted of killing a human foetus in accordance with Paragraph 218 (1) (3) of the Act before the effective date of that act is regarded as not being convicted.
This Act shall take effect on the day of its publication; It will be implemented by health and justice ministers in agreement with participating members of the government
