CONSTRUCTION LAW
Czech National Council
of 13 March 1990
on State Symbols of the Czech Republic
The Czech National Council decided on the following constitutional law:
Signature
(1) The large state emblem of the Czech Republic consists of a quarter shield, in which in the first and fourth red fields there is a silver two-tail roaring lion in the jump right looking with gold claws, golden washed out tongue and golden heraldic crown. In the second blue field there is a silver red-chess eagle right looking with a golden beak, gold claws and a golden heraldic crown. In the third golden field there is a black eagle right looking with red beak, red talons, gold heraldic crown and silver spring on the breast ended with clover triplets and in the middle decorated with a cross.
(2) The small state emblem of the Czech Republic consists of a red shield, on which is a silver two-tail roaring lion in a jump right looking with gold claws, golden washed out tongue and golden heraldic crown.
(3) Detailed depictions of the large and small national emblem of the Czech Republic are in Annexes 1 and 2 to this Constitutional Act.
State flag
(1) The national flag of the Czech Republic consists of two equally large lanes, the top stripe being white and the bottom stripe being red. The flag width to length ratio is 2: 3.
(2) The image of the national flag of the Czech Republic is in Annex 3 to this Constitutional Act.
State Seal
(1) The state seal of the Czech Republic consists of a large state emblem of the Czech Republic with lipos branches on the sides, around which is the circular inscription "Czech Republic." The diameter of the state seal is 45 mm.
(2) The State Seal of the Czech Republic is kept by the President of the Czech National Council.
National anthem
The national anthem of the Czech Republic consists of the first verse of the song František Škroup on the words of Josef Kajetán Tyl Where my home is.
Final provisions
The use of the national emblem and the national flag of the Czech Republic shall be governed by the law of the Czech National Council.
This constitutional law shall take effect on the day of its publication.
