GOVERNMENT REGULATION
of 16 November 2004
setting time limits for the exchange of civil certificates without machine-readable data
The Government orders pursuant to § 24 (2) of Act No. 328 / 1999 Coll., on Civil Documents, as amended by Act No. 53 / 2004 Coll.:
National citizens of the Czech Republic are obliged to exchange civil certificates without machine-readable data 1), issued by
(a) by 31 December 1994, for identity cards bearing machine-readable data (2) by 31 December 2005 at the latest; the citizen shall submit the application for a card by 30 November 2005 at the latest,
(b) by 31 December 1996, for identity cards bearing machine-readable data by 31 December 2006 at the latest; a citizen shall submit a request for a card by 30 November 2006 at the latest,
(c) until 31 December 1998, for identity cards bearing machine-readable data by 31 December 2007 at the latest; the citizen submits the application for a card by 30 November 2007 at the latest,
(d) by 31 December 2003 at the latest, for identity cards bearing machine-readable data by 31 December 2008 at the latest; a request for the issue of a citizen's ID card shall be submitted by the citizen by 30 November 2008 at the latest.
This Regulation shall enter into force on 1 January 2005.
