on changes in the organisation of universities
The Government of the Czechoslovak Republic orders pursuant to § 3 of Act No. 58 / 1950 Coll., on Higher Education, and § 16 (4) of Act No. 31 / 1953 Coll., on the School System and Teacher Education (Education Act):
(1) At the Czech Technical University in Prague, the Faculty of Engineering is merged with the Faculty of Regional Engineering in the Faculty of Engineering and the Faculty of Electrical Engineering with the Faculty of weak current electrical engineering in Poděbrady in the Faculty of Electrical Engineering in Prague.
(2) The Faculty of Technical and Nuclear Physics is transferred from the University of Charles in Prague at the Czech Technical University in Prague.
(1) The name of the Railway College in Prague changes and reads: University of Transport in Prague.
(2) At the University of Transport in Prague, the Faculty of Construction is merged with the Faculty of Transport Technical in the Faculty of Traffic and Economics and the Faculty of Machinery with the Faculty of Electrical Engineering in the Faculty of Machinery and Electrical Engineering.
The name of the Faculty of Chemical Technology is changed at the University of Chemistry in Prague and reads: Faculty of Technology of Fuel and Water.
(1) The Faculty of Forestry is transferred from the Czech Technical University in Prague to the University of Agriculture in Prague; This faculty is gradually abolished starting with the school year 1959 / 60.
(2) The name of the Faculty of Economics changes at the University of Agriculture in Prague and reads: Faculty of Economics.
The Faculty of Energy is divided into the Faculty of Engineering and the Faculty of Electrical Engineering in Brno.
(1) The name of the University of Agriculture and Forestry in Brno changes and reads: The University of Agriculture in Brno.
(2) At the University of Agriculture in Brno, the Faculty of Economics is established and the Faculty of Agronomy is merged with the Faculty of Zootechnics in the Faculty of Agronomy.
The Faculty of Mining and Geological in the Faculty of Mining in Ostrava is merged with the Faculty of Mining and Geological in the Faculty of Hornico-Geological, the name of the Faculty of Metal changes and reads: the Faculty of Metric; the Faculty of Economics and Engineering is gradually abolished, beginning with the school year 1959 / 60.
At the University of Technology in Košice, the names of the Faculty of Heavy Engineering, the Faculty of Mining and the Faculty of Metal are changed and read: Faculty of Machinery, Faculty of Mining and Faculty of Metric.
At the University of Agriculture in Nitra, the Faculty of Economics is established; the agronomic faculty is merged with the zootechnical faculty in the agronomic faculty.
(1) At Charles University in Prague, the Faculty of Philosophy and History is merged with the Faculty of Philosophy in the Faculty of Philosophy and the Faculty of Biology with the Faculty of Geological and Geographical Sciences in the Faculty of Science.
(2) The University of Charles in Prague is transferred from the Faculty of Education in Prague called the Institute of Physical Education and Sport.
(3) At Charles University in Prague, a Faculty of Medicine with its headquarters in Pilsen is established from the branch of the Faculty of General Medicine in Pilsen.
The university of Russian language and literature in Prague is gradually abolished starting with the school year 1959 / 60.
At the University of Economics in Prague, a faculty called the Institute of National Economic Planning is established. The Faculty of Finance and Credit combines with the Faculty of Statistics and with the Faculty of General Economics in the Faculty of Political Economics. The name of the Faculty of Internal and Foreign Trade changes and reads: Faculty of Business.
At Palacký University in Olomouc the names of the Faculty of Social Sciences and Faculty of Natural Sciences are changed and read: Faculty of Philosophy and Faculty of Science.
The Faculty of Science and Geological Sciences in the Faculty of Science in the Faculty of Science is merged at Komenský University in Bratislava.
At the University of Economics in Bratislava, a faculty called the Institute of National Economic Planning is established and the Faculty of Economics is merged with the Faculty of Internal Trade and Finance in the Faculty of Political Economics.
The University of Košice is established with the Faculty of Medicine with its headquarters in Košice and the Faculty of Philosophy with its headquarters in Prešov. The Faculty of Medicine is established from the branch of the Medical Faculty of Komenský University in Bratislava, based in Košice. The Faculty of Philosophy is established from the Faculty of Philosophy of the University of Education in Bratislava, based in Prešov.
The University of Education in Prague and the University of Education in Bratislava are gradually abolished starting with the school year 1959 / 60.
Higher pedagogical schools in Prague, Czech Budejovice, Pilsen, Ústí nad Labem, Brno, Opava, Bratislava, Banská Bystrica and Prešov are gradually abolished starting with the school year 1959 / 60.
The name of the Faculty of Film changes at the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague and reads: Faculty of Film and Television.
The Faculty of Theatre and Faculty of Music is abolished at Janáček Academy of Performing Arts in Brno. This college doesn't share faculty.
This Regulation shall take effect from 1 September 1959; they shall be carried out by the Minister for Education and Culture in agreement with participating members of the Government.
