Decree No. 58 / 1957 Coll.

At the International Conference on the Safety of Life at Sea, the International Convention on the Safety of Life at Sea was negotiated in London on 10 June 1948, which, according to its Article XI. (b), took effect on 19 November 1952.

The President of the Republic decided on 11 February 1957 that the Czechoslovak Republic accepted that Convention and the instrument of acceptance was deposited with the Government of the United Kingdom of Great Britannia and Northern Ireland on 25 June 1957, which on the date of that Convention under its Article XI (c) became effective for the Czechoslovak Republic.

In addition to the Czechoslovak Republic, the following countries have adopted this Convention, after the case has been extended to: Alaska, Argentina, Belgium, Brazil, Bulgaria, Denmark, Dominican Republic, Egypt, Finland, Philippines, France, French overseas territories, Haiti, Hawaii, Hong- Kong, Chile, India, Ireland, Iceland, Italy, Israel, Japan, South Africa Union, Jugoslavia, Canada, Cambodia, Cuba, Liberie, Hungary, Malaysia Federation, Morocco, Monaco, Germany, Nicaragua, Netherlands Antilles, Norway, New Zealand, Pakistan, Panama, Poland, Puerto Rico, Portugal, Romania, Greece, Singapore, Somalia, United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, United States of America, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Tunis, Turkey, Soviet Socialist Republic, Vietnam (South).
