Federal Ministry of Finance
of 12 April 1988
on the issue of commemorative silver 50 crowns for the 300th anniversary of the birth of Juraj Jánošík
The Federal Ministry of Finance declares pursuant to § 3 (2) of Act No. 41 / 1953 Coll., on monetary reform, and pursuant to § 2 (2) of Government Decree No. 35 / 1954 Coll., on commemorative coins:
(1) The 300th anniversary of the birth of Slovak folk hero Juraj Jánošík is issued with commemorative silver fifty crowns (hereinafter referred to as "fifty crowns").
(2) The 50 crowns are rolled from an alloy of 500 pieces of silver, 400 parts of copper, 50 parts of nickel and 50 parts of zinc. The weight of 50 kroner is 7 g. In the case of stamping, a tolerance up and down of 10 / 1000 and a silver content of 5 / 1000 is permitted. The diameter of the 50 crown is 27 mm, its edge is serrated.
(1) On the face is the state emblem of the Czechoslovak Socialist Republic in the middle of the top and below it in three rows the name of the state "CZECHOSLOVAK SOCIALISTIC REPUBLIC." In addition to the national character there is the "Kčs 50" mark on the left in two rows, and on the right is the valacea with a flower.
(2) The character of Juraj Janošík is depicted on the back in contemporary clothing and with vallaška. In the middle of the left in the row is the name "JURAJ" and under it in the line of surname "JÁNOŠÍK." The initial letter of the surname is represented as a focused hook with a falcon, other letters continue through the lower part of the character. In the divided row below are the years "1688" and "1988." There's a small flower on the right at the edge.
(3) The author of the 50 crown design is the national artist Ján Kulich. The initials of his name "J.K." are placed on the cheek in the middle of the bottom.
This Decree shall take effect on 1 May 1988.
