on the Agreement on Cultural Cooperation between the Government of the Czechoslovak Socialist Republic and the Government of the Republic of Zambia
On 28 August 1980 the Agreement on Cultural Cooperation between the Government of the Czechoslovak Socialist Republic and the Government of the Zambian Republic was signed in Prague. The Agreement entered into force on 8 January 1983 pursuant to Article 9 thereof.
The Czech translation of the Agreement is announced simultaneously.

AGREEMENT
on cultural cooperation between the Government of the Czechoslovak Socialist Republic and the Government of the Republic of Zambia
The Government of the Czechoslovak Socialist Republic and the Government of the Zambian Republic, led by the desire to improve relations between the two states of cooperation in the fields of culture, education, science and art, have decided to conclude this agreement and agree on the following:
Within the framework of this Agreement, the Parties shall develop cooperation in the fields of science, education, art, literature, press, film, radio, television, physical education and sport and health care, including the exchange of delegations and individuals.
The Parties shall promote cooperation and exchange of information and experience between the cultural, educational, scientific, medical and artistic institutions of their States in particular:
(a) supporting mutual visits by university professors and teachers of professional and scientific institutes;
(b) by organising artistic, cultural and informative exhibitions on the territory of both Parties;
(c) organising concerts, theatre and other performances of artists on the territory of both Parties;
(d) the translation, publishing and making available of the literary and scientific work of both Parties to the relevant organisations and bodies of both Parties;
(e) exchange of books, magazines, illustrative teaching instructions and other publications of a cultural and scientific nature;
(f) exchange of printing, radio and television material in accordance with the national provisions of both Parties;
(g) promoting mutual cooperation in the field of film production and making available to the other Party of science and education films within its territory;
(h) by inviting observers of the other Party to congresses, conferences, seminars and other international meetings in the area referred to in Article 1 of the Agreement, to be held in the territory of the other Party, provided that the rules and regulations of such meetings so permit.
Each Contracting Party shall allow the provision of scholarships to students of both Contracting Parties to study at the relevant educational institutions under mutually agreed conditions.
Each Contracting Party shall, in accordance with its national rules, recognise diplomas and academic degrees awarded in the other State.
The Parties shall allow researchers and researchers access to libraries, archives, museums, galleries and other cultural and scientific institutes in accordance with their national rules.
The Parties shall support, as far as possible, sport competitions between nationals of their States and the exchange of athletes, educational experts and sports cooperatives.
In order to implement this Agreement, the Contracting Parties shall agree implementation plans for certain periods of time in which they will specify specific cooperation actions, including financial conditions.
This Agreement shall apply for a period of five years and shall be deemed to be extended at the end of that period for a further period of five years, with the intention of one of the Contracting Parties to terminate it by giving written notice to the other Contracting Party at least six months before the end of that period.
In the case of a notification sent pursuant to paragraph 1 of this Article, the Contracting Parties shall consult with a view to reaching an agreement on the steps to be taken to comply with any commitments entered into under this Agreement which may continue on the date of expiry of this Agreement.
This Agreement shall enter into force on the date of the exchange of notes by which the Contracting Parties confirm that the Agreement has been approved or ratified in accordance with their respective constitutional requirements.
