on the negotiation of the Agreement between the Czech Republic and the Republic of Peru on a work holiday programme
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs announces that on 25 October 2024 the Agreement between the Czech Republic and the Republic of Peru on a work holiday programme was signed in Lima.
The Parliament of the Czech Republic agreed to the Agreement and the President of the Republic ratified it.
The Agreement shall enter into force on 1 February 2026 on the basis of Article 16 (1) thereof.
The English version of the Agreement and the English version, which are relevant for its interpretation, shall be published simultaneously.

Text of the international treaty in Czech language
AGREEMENT
BETWEEN THE CZECH REPUBLIC
AND THE REPUBLIC OF PERUANIA
ON THE WORK AUTHORISED PROGRAMME
Czech Republic and the Republic of Peru ("the Parties')
to promote the exchange and mutual understanding between Czech and Peruvian young people and to enable them to spend their holidays in the territory of the other State and to work temporarily during their stay to improve the knowledge of the language, culture and society of the other Party, thereby enhancing mutual understanding between the two States,
conclude the following Agreement on a work holiday programme (hereinafter referred to as "the programme '):
Duties of the Peruvian Party
Article 1
The Republic of Peru shall issue an exchange visa through its embassy in the Czech Republic in accordance with the guidelines of its Ministry of Foreign Affairs and in accordance with the general conditions laid down in the Peruvian legislation to citizens of the Czech Republic who apply for it and fulfil the following requirements:
(a) they intend to spend their holidays in the Republic of Peru, with employment being more secondary to the main purpose of the visit;
(b) are between 18 (18) and 30 (30) years of age at the time of the application;
(c) have permanent residence in the Czech Republic;
(d) are not accompanied by dependent persons;
(e) hold a Czech passport valid for at least three months longer than their expected stay in the territory of the Republic of Peru;
(f) have a return ticket or sufficient means to purchase such a ticket;
(g) have sufficient means to cover their cost of living while they are in the territory of the Republic of Peru, as assessed by the competent authorities;
(h) pay the required fee for an application for an exchange visa;
(i) have not yet participated in the Peruvian Republic's work leave programme;
(j) provide a health insurance certificate covering the costs of hospitalisation and repatriation in the event of the provision of the necessary and urgent medical care or death, which is valid throughout the stay;
(k) meet all health requirements for entry into the territory of the Republic of Peru;
(l) submit an extract from the records of the Register of Penalties of the Czech Republic showing that they have no criminal record; and
(m) submit two photographs.
Article 2
The Republic of Peru shall issue the visas referred to in Article 1 each year up to the number fixed by diplomatic channels.
Article 3
Citizens of the Czech Republic who have received a visa pursuant to Article 1 and fulfil the requirements laid down in Article 1 may, during their stay in the territory of the Republic of Peru, engage in legal gainful activities without a work permit for a maximum period of one year.
Article 4
A citizen of the Czech Republic who has been granted an exchange visa under this programme may use him to enter the territory of the Republic of Peru within 90 (90) days of its issue. This exchange visa shall be valid for 12 (12) months from the date of entry into the territory of the Republic of Peru.
Article 5
1. Any citizen of the Czech Republic who has entered the territory of the Republic of Peru on the basis of this Agreement shall comply with the law of the Republic of Peru and the terms of this programme. Programme participants may enter education or study courses during their stay in the Republic of Peru.
2. According to the legislation of the Republic of Peru, citizens of the Czech Republic who have been granted an exchange visa under the conditions laid down in Article 1 may engage in any legal activity during their stay in the Republic of Peru, including short-term employment. This provision shall not preclude participants from complying with the relevant legislation in the territory of the Republic of Peru, in particular those relating to regulated professions.
Article 6
The validity of a visa issued by a Peruvian party under this programme cannot be extended.
Obligations of the Czech Party
Article 7
Without prejudice to the provisions of Article 8, the Czech Republic shall issue a long-stay visa valid for up to 12 (12) months through its embassy in the Republic of Peru to the citizens of the Republic of Peru who apply for it and fulfil the following requirements:
(a) they intend to spend their holidays in the Czech Republic, with employment being more secondary to the main purpose of the visit;
(b) are between 18 (18) and 30 (30) years of age at the time of the application;
(c) are not accompanied by dependent persons;
(d) hold a Peruvian passport valid for at least three months longer than their expected stay in the Czech Republic;
(e) have a return ticket or sufficient means of buying such a ticket;
(f) they have sufficient means to cover their cost of living during their stay in the Czech Republic, as assessed by the competent authorities;
(g) submit a certificate from the Penal Register of the Republic of Peru indicating that they have no criminal record;
(h) submit two photographs;
(i) pay the required visa application fee;
(j) have not yet participated in the programme of work vacations of the Czech Republic;
k) present a certificate of health insurance to the extent required by the applicable legislation of the Czech Republic and valid throughout the stay; and
(l) meet all health requirements for entry into the Czech Republic.
Article 8
The Czech Republic shall issue the visas referred to in Article 7 each year up to the number fixed by diplomatic channels.
Article 9
Citizens of the Republic of Peru who have been granted a visa pursuant to Article 7 and fulfil the requirements laid down in Article 7 may, during their stay in the Czech Republic, engage in legal gainful activities without a work permit for a maximum period of one year.
Article 10
1. Any citizen of the Republic of Peru who has entered the territory of the Czech Republic on the basis of this Agreement shall comply with the legislation of the Czech Republic and the conditions of this programme. The participants of the programme may enter education or study courses during their stay in the Czech Republic.
2. According to the legislation of the Czech Republic, citizens of the Republic of Peru who have been granted an exchange visa under the conditions laid down in Article 7 may engage in any legal activity during their stay in the Czech Republic, including short-term employment. This provision does not preclude participants from complying with the relevant legislation in the Czech Republic, in particular those concerning regulated professions.
Article 11
The validity of a visa issued by a Czech party under this programme cannot be extended.
General provisions
Article 12
1. Each Party may refuse a visa application in accordance with its legislation.
2. Each Party may, for the reasons set out in its national law, refuse entry into its territory of a citizen of the other Party participating in the Programme or expel such a citizen from its territory.
Article 13
1. The Parties shall, if they so request, notify each other by diplomatic means of the administrative procedures and conditions relating to the implementation of this Agreement.
2. The Parties shall inform each other of any changes to their respective legislation relating to the implementation of this Agreement.
Article 14
Either Party may temporarily suspend the application of this Agreement, in whole or in part, for reasons of public security, public policy, public health or any other reason specified in its legislation. Such suspension, as well as the date of its entry into force and revocation, shall be notified to the other Party by diplomatic channels. In the event of suspension, the provisions of this Agreement shall continue to apply to persons who have already been issued a visa under this Agreement until their visa expires.
Article 15
1. Each Party may at any time, by diplomatic means, request consultations on the interpretation and implementation of the provisions of this Agreement, including any question relating to the possible incompatibility of any changes to its respective legislation or administrative procedures and conditions with those of this Agreement, or any proposals for amendments to this Agreement. The other Party shall respond to such request within 60 days of receipt of the request.
2. The Agreement shall be reviewed at the request of either Party.
Entry into force and termination
Article 16
1. The Parties shall inform each other by diplomatic means of the fulfilment of their national legal conditions necessary for the entry into force of this Agreement. This Agreement shall enter into force on the first day of the third month following receipt of the subsequent notification.
2. Each Party may terminate this Agreement by giving notice of three months' notice to the other Party in writing by diplomatic means. In such cases, the provisions of this Agreement shall continue to apply to persons who have already been issued a visa under this Agreement until their visa expires.
Done at Lima, 25 October 2024, in two original copies, each in the Czech, Spanish and English languages, each text being equally authentic. In the event of irregularities, the English version shall prevail.
